Discussions covered wide range of topics, including: metro planning approaches, systems, and frameworks; transportation; urban resilience, DRM, and climate change; solid waste; data; and economic development.
HANDS-ON LEARNING THROUGH SITE VISITS TO 3 INNOVATIVE PROJECTS
NY organized visits to innovative projects covering three of the lab’s key pillars:
Urban Growth & Economic Development: Sustainable Communities Initiative Project.
Resiliency: Regional Response to Hurricane Sandy.
Transportation: Moynihan Project.
LAUNCH LAB AROUND NY’S 4th PLAN TO PROVIDE 1st-HAND EXPERIENCE
Assembly brought together close to 1,000 civic and business leaders from around the U.S. to discuss major issues affecting the prosperity and quality of life in the NY-NJ-CT region.
Sessions and panel discussions provided an opportunity for participants to debate approaches to economic development, transport, housing, land use and environment and observe NY’s century-old processes.
Session on “World Cities” launched the Lab.
ONLINE COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE
Rich program of peer learning and peer reviews.
High-level face-to-face meetings of the Lab’s members in global cities (Paris? Seoul? ) and regional consultations in member cities.
Deepen and broaden connections made during inaugural launch through continued engagement (one-to-one and many-to-many).
Continued partnership among Anchor, WBI, Regions, RPA, and client cities—able to scale up lab depending on demand.
Lab is OWNED by clients—future direction will be determined by its member cities.
