Introduction

Requiring no laundering or costly initial capital expenditure, Elers Medical Antimicrobial Disposable Curtains should become an inte-

gral part of every hospital's overall infection control protocol.

Elers Medical design and manufacture a complete range of over 30 different innovative professional infection control products, the latest product group being the Antimicrobial Disposable Curtains.

It is widely recognised by Hospital Infection Prevention experts that traditional textile hospital curtains have the potential to become a source of pathogenic transmission, as Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs), such as MRSA, can remain on the curtain’s surface for long periods.

Elers Medical Antimicrobial Disposable Curtains have a silver ion based treatment added at the polypropylene (PP) mixing state.The PP fibers are inherently antimicrobial which means harmful bacteria is neutralized once it comes into contact with the surface of the fabric, directly helping reduce pathogenic transfer from the surface of the curtain to the patient or staff member.

Elers Medical Antimicrobial Disposable Curtains are flame retardant (FR) tested and are compliant with International Standards NFPA 701 and BS 5867 PART 2 TYPE C. This means the Curtains remain FR protected for the lifetime of the curtain. Commonly used textile curtains can lose up to as much as 60% of their FR protection simply from the harsh laundering process.

A program of regular curtain replacement can be augmented by a policy of immediate change for those areas that have been exposed to high infection risk or for any curtains which have become visibly soiled or contaminated.Elers Medical would recommend that disposable curtains are replaced every 6-12 months, but this is dependent on the individual hospital or trust guidelines.

Elers Medical Antimicrobial Disposable Curtains are compatible with most curtain tracks used within healthcare environments and can be either supplied with a hook or as eyelet only – to allow use with existing track hook and glider systems.

Proven effective against multiple organisms such as MRSA, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Aspergillus niger, Trycophyton mentagrophytes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Corneybacterium ammoniagenes.
