Elements of design – line, shape, form, value, color, texture, space
Principles of design – balance, unity, variety, emphasis, contrast, pattern, proportion, repetition, movement
LINE A mark with greater length than width
SHAPEA flat, 2D area
FORM a 3D area that has volume
TEXTUREThe way something feels OR looks like it would feel
VALUEthe range from light to dark
SPACE the area taken up by objects (positive space) AND the area around those objects (negative space)
COLOR property of light defined by hue, value & saturation
ASSIGNMENT – ELEMENTS OF ART PHOTOS
Take 4-5 photos representing each of the 7 elements of design (30-35 photos total). One element should stand out strongly in each photo. You will use these photos in the next assignment!
