GOSPEL LEARNING

The Gospel reading today comes from St. Luke. In the parable, Jesus invites us to be different in a good way and not do what most others do. He is telling us to think, to pray to him and to do everything we can to become better people, more like him. He tells us that is the way to heaven.

GOSPEL READING: LUKE 14: 1, 7-14

“Humility and Hospitality”

Source: New Testament Pinoy Version Catholic Edition

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke

LIVING THE GOSPEL

1. SITUATION

In our world today, how are the poor and sick people treated? Are they the winners? What do you think?

LIVING THE GOSPEL

2. GOSPEL THEME

In the Gospel, Jesus talks about doing good deeds, such as giving to others, without expecting anything in return.

LIVING THE GOSPEL

3. GOSPEL CHALLENGE

In order to build up the Kingdom of God, what good deeds can we do for the poor and sick people?

TRIVIA: RESURRECTION OF THE RIGHTEOUS

The Jews believed that both the righteous and the wicked would be resurrected at the end times (Acts 24:15). However, the resurrection of the righteous would be a resurrection of eternal life on earth to come while the resurrection of the wicked would be a resurrection of judgment (cf. John 5:28-29).

CLOSING PRAYER

Dear Jesus,

Please help me to be humble by never boasting about myself. Teach me to have a heart for others just like you. I invite you to enter into my heart so that I can be truly happy and humble.

In your name I pray.

Amen.

Our Father, Hail, Mary, Glory Be...
