Coagulation is a versatile, all-in-one ESU.

Why Use Argon Beam Coagulation?Surgeons use argon beam coagulation (ABC®) technology to focus RF energy into a directional cooler beam of argon gas – creating a uniform stream that’s distributed evenly on tissue. In addition to convenience and flexibility, this provides a wide range of clinical benefits.

Rapid, Superficial HemostasisThe argon gas allows dissection and coagulation directly on the stroma of target tissue, reducing carbonization. This rapid hemostasis can result in less blood loss, less OR time and improved eschar integrity.

Less Tissue DamageABC® operates at lower temperatures than standard electrosurgery due to the cooling effects of argon gas flow during energy deliver. ABC® operates at approximately 110º C, where as standard monopolar electrosurgery is approximately 220º C1.

This may limit thermal spread and may result in less necrosis – which is believed to help lower the risk of post-operative infections. The shallow and consistent depth of the thermal effect helps reduce the chance of sloughing and post-op bleeding.

Provides controlled hemostasis for small surface bleeders by providing four different pulse timings:

– 200 milliseconds (ms) – 400 ms – 600 ms – 1 second

PULSE ABC MODE

Working with CONMED’s dissection electrode, HelixAR™ provides argon- enhanced cutting with four dissect sub modes that allow surgeons to decide how much hemostasis to use:

– Argon Dissect Pure: negligible hemostasis – Argon Dissect Low: low hemostasis – Argon Dissect Medium: medium hemostasis – Argon Dissect High: maximum hemostasis

Since its inception, CONMED has been a leader in the argon beam coagulation technology. The HelixAR™ continues that tradition with a wide range of features you won’t find in other systems.

Designed to Minimize Unintentional Tissue Charring The HelixAR™ features CONMED’s proprietary Dynamic Response Technology (DRT) that delivers optimal clinical effects in Monopolar Cut, Monopolar Coagulation and Bipolar Coagulation through the continuous synchronization of current and voltage.

DRT samples current and voltage 450,000 times per second and can respond to changes in tissue in less than 10 milliseconds, optimizing energy output levels quickly to help ensure the precise voltage is delivered to each tissue type safely. This can help minimize excess tissue burning and decrease healing times.

Customizable Modes to Meet Your Needs Designed for surgeons who demand performance, the HelixAR™ has three cutting modes: Pure, Blend and Pulse.

When precise coagulation is needed, the HelixAR™ offers four different monopolar coagulation options: Standard, Spray, Pinpoint and Pulse, so surgeons can make the right choice for each unique patient or situation.

The HelixAR™ also offers two bipolar modes, Micro and Macro, Dissecting and Coagulation.

High Performance, Ergonomic Handpieces CONMED offers a wide variety of handpieces designed to meet the unique needs of surgeons and their patients. The multifunction Triple Option Handpiece saves time and cuts costs by combining three different functions in one tool. Treat difficult to reach surgical sites with the malleable Bend-A-Beam® and help cut costs with the Reusable ABC® Handpiece with disposable nozzles.

Many CONMED ABC® handpieces can be converted to Argon Beam Dissect handpieces with the addition of a Dissecting Blade or Needle Electrode.
