ARPANET

•Arpanet -ADVANCED, RESEARCH, PROJECTS, AGENCY, NETWORK. Developed by ARPA of the US department of defense during the cold war, was the worlds first operational packet switching network and predecessor of the global internet.

Hard & Soft Bounce

•Hard Bounce a hard bounce is the failed delivery of an email due to a permanent reason like a non-existent address.

•Soft Bounce- email message that gets as far as the recipients mail server but is bounced back undelivered before it gets to the intended recipient. Might occur due to a full inbox.

•Phishing-The act of sending email to a user falsely claiming to be an established legitimate business in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft.

Encryption & Decryption

•Encryption- scrambling of info for security reasons to be sent across the internet

•Decryption- descrambling of info for security reasons has been sent across the internet

Netiquette

•Netiquette-guidelines for posting messages to online services and particularly internet newsgroups. Netiquette covers not only rules to maintain civility in discussions but also special guidelines unique to the electronic nature of forum messages.

Router

•Router-a device that forwards data packets along networks a router is connected to at least tow networks commonly two LANs or WANs or a LAN and its ISP network. Routers are located at gateways the places where two or more networks connect.
