Our electro-pneumatic lowering system is a powerful component for roof-mounted panto-graphs in urban railtraffic. The self-sufficient system is completely integrable into the present vehicle performance and suitable to existing pantographs. Alternatively our lowe-ring system can be installed in roof-mounted position near the pantograph. The connection is made to the already given vehicle electrics.

The automatic lowering of the pantograph in case of a collector strip breakage prevents unnecessary damage to the overhaed wire and the pantograph.

A channel in the collector strip is supplied via the line system with compressed air from the compressed air system's memory. Where com-pressed air escapes from the collector strip in case of damage, the system detects this pres-sure drop and the pantograph is electrically lowered by the spindle drive within a few seconds. Not operating hazardous hairline cracks in the collector strip and minimal leaka-ge are suppressed by the tolerance of the sensitivity of the pressure switch. An unfounded lowering of the pantograph is thus prevented.
