The IEEE is the largest worldwide professional organization, with 420,000+ members. It
creates technical standards, organizes national and international conferences, has many
professional and technical publications, and promotes & supports student activities.
The IEEE Student Branch runs various activities including programming challenges and
technical workshops, provides assistance with soldering and obtaining parts, and sells
electronic kits and boards required for projects. They also collaborate with other clubs on
campus, promote IEEE Membership, and have an office area (ITB-141) where like-minded
students can gather for both academic and leisure activities.
the iBiomed Society(formerly “BEAMS”)
is for students who are taking the iBiomed program combined with either an Engineering or Health Sciences program

Solar CarFacebook: @macsolarcar

The McMaster Solar Car Project is a team of undergrads that
builds and races electric vehicles powered by the sun. Their goal
is the innovation and education of sustainable technology. They
explore integrating new technologies in creative ways in order to
create an inventive and efficient solar race car. Founded in 1997,
they have built 8 vehicles to date.
Students in this group build a single seat, open wheeled racecar to
compete against other schools at annual international competitions.
Each year the team starts out creating new goals. From there, a
plan of action is formed, deadlines are established, and tasks are
distributed. Simulations are run to optimize the theoretical designs,
then begin the manufacturing and assembly of components. Once
the car is completed demanding testing is done before the car and
team go to competition.

Mac Engineering EcoCAR 3 Team
McMaster University is among two Canadian institutions competing in the EcoCAR challenge,
North America's premier collegiate-level automotive engineering competition.
Every 4 years there is a new challenge. Currently it is the EcoCAR Mobility Challenge, which
launched in September 2018 and will conclude in 2022.
EcoCAR teams will re-engineer a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer to incorporate advanced propulsion
systems, electrification, and connected and automated vehicle technology.
