Initiatives and Goals Executive Order 13514 on federal sustainability
Signed October 5th, 2009
Establishes integrated strategy towards sustainability in the federal government.
Makes GHG emission reduction an integrated performance metric for all federal agencies
Goals and performance metrics are scored by OMB and linked to agency budget allocations
Requires a 30% decrease in petroleum consumption

Initiatives and Goals Electric Vehicle Pilot Program
Announced by the Steven Chu, Secretary of Energy on May 24th, 2011,
Targeted investment to incorporate electric vehicles and charging infrastructure into the federal government’s vehicle and building portfolios
Supports Executive Order 13514 and President’s goal of reducing the country’s dependence on oil imports by one-third by 2015

EV Pilot Program Fact Sheet One hundred sixteen plug-in electric vehicles will be leased to 20 agencies,
including the departments of Energy, the Navy, and the Treasury.
The vehicles will be in five cities: Washington; Detroit; and Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco, Calif.
GSA will work with agencies to install charging infrastructure in federal buildings in the five pilot cities.
The electric plug-in vehicles being deployed in the pilot are expected to annually save almost 29,000 gallons of gas, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 257 metric tons, and save taxpayers almost $116,000 in fuel costs.

operator with current inventory of approx 600,000 vehicles.
GSA procures two-thirds of federal fleet vehicles, approx 65,000 vehicles a year
GSA also owns and leases approx 210,000 vehicles to federal agencies
Roughly 50% of are alternative fuel vehicles

Contract with over $50 billion spent annually.
Contractor puts together a proposal to an open solicitation and obtains a GSA Schedule.
You should be prepared to heavily market to federal agencies.
Average successful contract holder spends approx $80k annually marketing and selling their GSA schedule.
Buyer Beware! Many companies will charge you thousands of dollars to help you obtain a GSA contract with no marketing support to help you bring in sales.
