LAST WEEK – July 22 – Jennifer Best and Shaney Ford; Full Service Community Schools
Jennifer and Shaney informed the 58 attending on Friday, about special services that are available in some of the more needy schools in Davenport. These services are available in Madison and Monroe Elemen-tary and Smart Junior High. The program has been operational for 3 years in Madison and 2 years in the other 2 schools. Hours of operation are 6:30-10 P.M. If the child can get to school, the child and his family can get help. Each school has a staff person watching out for problem areas and offering help to those who need it. This program runs on Federal Block Grants, which are available for a five year period. Guests on Friday were: Duncan Cameron, Stan Mohr, Lisa Williams and Josie Seymour. Marguerite Holzworth was our pianist. Rich Golinghorst reported that Gene Meyer was back at Genesis West, due to a problem with his incision. Brian Williams received the William F Tubbs Honor Rotarian of the year award. This is awarded to a member who excelled in Rotary in his first year of membership. Patrick announced a Rotary wide night at a River Bandits Baseball game on August 19. John Maxwell was the sergeant and collected $41 in fines. Josh Cobie had some explaining to do, as his wife was listed in the NSP police column.
The 4 Way Test Of the things we THINK SAY or DO
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
