Boy Scouts of America Summit Bechtel ReserveGlen Jean, WV
A total of 60,000 square feet of rock climbing terrain, this is the world’s largest man-made outdoor rock climbing structure.
Part of the Boy Scouts of America’s extreme
sports village at the Summit Bechtel Reserve
in West Virginia, this climbing facility was
unveiled at the 2013 National Jamboree. The
climbing facility, which includes 70 TRUBLUE
Auto Belays, is divided into two areas: The
Rocks and Boulder Cove.
The Rocks climbing area is dedicated
specifically to the Scouts during the Jamboree.
The most unique element of this massive
climbing area is the “Leap of Faith,” where
participants leap into the air from a height of
32 feet and are safely lowered to the ground
by the TRUBLUE Auto Belay.
Other features of The Rocks include:
• Two rappelling towers with a total of 36 rappelling stations at a height of 32 feet (6 stations are dedicated “leap of faith” stations).
• Three climbing fins with 68 manual belay stations at heights from 21-30 feet.
• Two climbing fins with 33 TRUBLUE Auto Belay stations at heights from 25-35 feet.
• One 25-foot high climbing fin with 8 climbing stations (6 manual, 2 auto belay).
• Six freestanding boulders with over 50 stations and an average height of ten feet.

Boulder Cove incorporates over
280 linear feet of rock climbing
walls ranging for 19’ to 36’ in
height. In this area, the Scouts
and their families can enjoy the
following features together:
• 12 TRUBLUE Auto Belay backed up rappel stations.
• 72’ linear foot rappel deck
• 25 TRUBLUE Auto Belay backed up climbing stations.
• Three distinct boulders averaging 13’ in height.
“We are honored to have been selected by the Boy Scouts of America to complete a project of this massive scope and size. The climbing facility at The Rocks and Boulder Cove truly showcase the amazing climbing wall design and climbing wall construction capabilities
of our team. We look forward to seeing this facility inspire a love of rock climbing in current and future generations of Scouts.”

Colorado State UniversityFort Collins, CO
The climbing wall at the Colorado State University Student Recreation Center is a great case study for any university considering a climbing wall facility.
With 3,323 square feet of indoor climbing
surface, the facility consists of a 40 foot
PerformanceRock free standing tower and 55
linear feet of High Performance bouldering.
This wall meets the needs of all user groups,
from the students to the administration to the
facility management.
The wall is run by student-employees, and
the climbing club is very active on campus.
The CSU climbing wall is an excellent example
of how design and programming can come
together to make a climbing wall a hub of
social activity on campus.

PRODUCT USED: PERFORMANCEROCK – HIGH PERFORMANCE™ AND REALROCK™
Our PerformanceRock product was the perfect choice for the needs of this facility. Combining our High Performance and REALRock systems, this climbing wall unites the operational goals of the indoor climbing program with the aesthetic desires of the campus administration. In fact, PerformanceRock is becoming so
popular with universities that we are thinking about calling it “U Rock!”
The climbing wall is the architectural centerpiece of the CSU Student Recreation Center. The highly aesthetic REALRock portion of the tower can be seen through the glass façade of the building’s entrance. Made of
glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC), REALRock looks and feels like natural rock.
As experienced wall operators know, the key to keeping climbers enthusiastic is creative and ever-changing routes. The remainder of the tower and the entire bouldering area are made of our High Performance
system, which allows for a beautiful and functional “blank canvas” for the student routesetters.
“The experience of working with Eldorado was fantastic because they allowed us to come in with a vision of what we wanted the space to be and
the activity we wanted to see, and they were able to build in the components that allow us to have a very active wall.”
JEFF HUSKEY, ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF C AMPUS RECREATION, COLORADO STATE UNIVERSIT Y

True North Climbing GymToronto, Canada
With over 14,000 square feet of climb-ing terrain, including the largest fully-suspended artificial stalactite in North America and a huge top-out bouldering area, True North Climbing is a state-of-the-art rock climbing facility.
Built in what used to be an airplane hangar,
the gym features ceilings of up to 36 feet,
with abundant natural light coming in from
windows in the high space.
The look and feel of the space uses the build-
ing’s original purpose as inspiration. The han-
gar was the site of de Havilland’s production of
Mosquito bombers in the early 1940s. Eldo was
inspired by the look of these planes and used
that to drive the design of the shapes of the
walls, as well as the color scheme.

“When Eldo suggested hanging a stalactite from
the high ceiling of our space, I got very excited.
It’s a very unique and cool feature that adds dramatic visual appeal as you enter the space, while being a perfectly
functional climbing surface. Seeing it actually
built is amazing.”
JOHN GROSS — OWNER, TRUE NORTH CLIMBING
PRODUCT USED: HIGH PERFORMANCE
Known as the “routesetter’s canvas,” our High Performance climbing wall system is the product of choice for state-of-the-art climbing gyms.
Experienced climbing wall operators know the key to keeping their climbers enthusiastic is creative and ever-changing routes. High Performance walls are thoughtfully designed to highlight this aspect of operation. They provide a beautiful and functional “blank canvas” that can accommodate features like arches, overhangs, cracks and pinnacles or simply sweeping expanses that showcase your routes.
High Performance climbing wall systems are made of a thick, cementitious texture applied over sheets of interlocking OSB, a proven method of climbing wall construction. Supported by a steel framing system, the walls are extremely durable and can withstand a high volume of use. A t-nut density of at least 2 per square foot and planar surfaces allow you to place more and bigger holds, allowing for the ultimate flexibility in route setting.

WHY USE AN AUTO BELAY?An auto belay is an automatic belay device that eliminates the need for a human belayer. TRUBLUE uses a patented self-regulating braking system, which is enabled by non-contacting magnetic braking technology. The auto belay takes up the slack as a climber ascends and controls the descent when the climber reaches the top or in the event of a fall. Incorporating auto belays into your facility helps you increase revenue while reducing costs and risks.
What you want in an auto belay Our auto belay Other auto belays
Self-regulating, non-contacting magnetic system TRU
False… other auto belays are based on brake pad or hydraulic systems. Brake pad systems have expensive wearing parts, while hydraulic systems have a potential for messy hydraulic fluid leaks and the need to re-pressurize.
Webbing based system TRU False… other auto belays are cable-based systems, which can damage climbing walls if the cable contacts the wall.
Low maintenance and servicing costs TRU
False… annual cable replacement is much more expensive than TRUBLUE’s field-replaceable webbing delivery nozzle system. Plus, site visit servicing for fixed auto belay systems can well exceed the cost of our annual offsite servicing.
Smooth descent TRU False… other auto belays are not self-regulating and the descent rate can vary according to climber weight
Longest range for the price TRUFalse… while you can buy an auto belay with a range longer than TRUBLUE’s 41 feet, expect to pay a substantial premium for that extra range!
All auto belays are not created equal.
WITH THE TRUBLUE AUTO BELAY YOU WILL:• Increase programming while decreasing staff costs
• Attract single climbers
• Reduce barriers to entry for new climbers
• Provide your members with a unique endurance training tool
• Minimize your facility risk

Campbell County Recreation Center
Gillette, WY
At a circumference of 74 feet and a height of 42 feet, the climbing structure at the Campbell County
Recreation Center replicates Wyoming’s famous Devils Tower
National Monument.
Eldorado took on an extensive process
to understand the national monument’s
features, translating the unique terrain to
a scale that is both engaging as a climbing
structure and recognizable as a replica.
The result is a climbing tower that captures
the classic features and overall climbing
experience on Devils Tower.

Pensacola Christian CollegePensacola, FL
At 60’ high, this REALRock climbing wall installation is both the tallest and the largest in any university environment.
Unique in its realism, this was an architecturally driven project where aes-
thetics were as important as performance. The client’s vision was to create a
massive indoor climbing environment indistinguishable from rock formations
found in nature. Through a highly collaborative design process, Eldo created a
setting that not only surpasses expectations, but overwhelms the senses.
To accommodate the customer’s needs, our REALRock™ wall system was used.
The scope of terrain dictated that we build a much larger GFRC mold library
than was commercially available in the architectural rock industry. By produc-
ing the REALRock molds and panels ourselves, we defined the true character of
the rock and introduced a new system that functions as well as it looks.
The outcome is a product that not only looks like rock found in nature,
but will climb as well in 5 years as it does the first day,
thanks to a good balance between natural and modular
handhold placements.

factor beyond anything we could have imagined.”

“Phenomenal from start to finish. Their professionalism and work ethic was unparalleled. There’s nothing easy about building a climbing wall. They came in here every day and held a very high standard of operation. They held the Eldorado banner
quite well, and we were real happy with the final product they put out. I spent ten years in the Marine Corps in Force Recon and I’ve seen a good share of hard work and long days, and I tell you what… pound for pound, I’d have a tough time keeping up with some of the work days they logged down here. With our climbing wall refurbishing service, we accentuate the best parts of your existing climbing wall structure and change any elements that are no longer working for you. The result is a wall that is even more beautiful and durable than ever.
IN ADDITION TO RESURFACING, ELDORADO’S WALL REFURBISHING SERVICE GIVES YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO:• Add new features: Update your wall and engage your climbers with new and
exciting features.
• Incorporate new design elements: Your wall was state of the art when it was built, but you may want to reframe sections of your wall to bring your climbers’ experience to a new level. Maybe you have a feature that is not highly used or limits your route setting potential. You can even add rock realistic terrain to your wall, improving aesthetics and providing showcase terrain.
• Fix damaged wall sections: Improve the appearance and performance of your wall by repairing any damaged climbing terrain.
• Increase your programming terrain: Include a rock realistic section for instructional classes and anchor building clinics to increase your programming ROI.
“We resurfaced our thirteen-year-old, heavily used walls with Eldorado Climbing Walls’
new texture. Not only did the texture allow us to restore the look of our walls, it also
encapsulates the aging texture and preserves the integrity of the walls. The new texture has a great feel and friction our members
are raving about. The process was easy, and we now know we will get at least another
thirteen years from these walls.”

Private ResidenceSilverthorn, CO
Who wouldn’t want their very own climbing wall?
At this private residence in the mountains of Colorado, we brought
home the experience of outdoor climbing. Using our hand-sculpted
SHOTRock product, we created a 27 feet high “L” configuration that
looks and climbs like real rock.
The centerpiece of an amazing home, this climbing wall spans the
entire elevation of the house and can be observed from many angles
on the central staircase. Two TRUBLUE auto belays allow for the
homeowners and their guests to use the wall at any time, whether
they have a belay partner or not.
