Guatemala – The Old Love Parade

• Dia del Amor y Amistad in Guatemala is a colorful, affectionate affair.

• Guatemalans exchange flowers, chocolates, and cards just like the U.S., but also with friends as well as admirers.

• In Guatemala City, the holiday isn't just for the youth. It is common for locals and tourist to dress up in feathered masks or vivid Mayan attire and partake in Old Love, a senior citizens parade.

AD. emperor Claudius the 2nd banned marriages altogether with hopes of a better army. But a defiant young priest, Valentine, continued to marry young lovers in secret. The emperor caught on and sentenced the priest to death.
