    POLYVINYL CHLORIDE

    PVC IS FORMED FROM VINYL CHLORIDE MONOMER BY ADDITION

    POLYMERISATION. THE POLYMER ISATION METHOD USED TO MANUFACTURE THE

    RESIN COMMERCIALLY ARE:

    4. SOLUTION.

    THE PARTICLE SIZE OF A PARTICULAR PVC RESIN IS DESIGNED TO SUIT THE

    INTEDDED USE OF THE POLYMER. THE GENERAL PARTICLE SHAPE OF ALL RESIN

    TYPES SHOULD BE SPHERICAL SO THAT FREE ROLLING MOTION OCCURS IN THE

    HANDLING AND PROCESSING OF THE FINAL COMPOUND. SINCE PVC ITSELF IS

    TOUCH, BRITTLE AND HAS POOR HEAT STABILITY, IT MUST BE COMPOUNDED

    WITH OTHER CHEMICALS TO PRODUCE PROPERTIES REQUIRED FOR THE ENDAPPLICATION. PLASTICIZERS NAMELY DOP AND DBP TYPE IS COMMONLY USED.

    PVC IS SENSITIVE TO HEAT AND LIGHT. IT IS NECESSARY TO USE STABILISERS, I.E.

    CADMIUM AND BARIUM TYPE. PVC IS COMPATIBLE WITH NITRILE RUBBER. THE

    BLEND GIVES EXCELLENT OZONE, OIL AND FLAME RESISTANCE PROPERTY.

    8.

    NBR / PVC BLENDING

    1. NBR CAN BE BLENDED WITH PVC. BOTH ARE COMPATIBLE SIMILAR TYPE

    OF PLASTICISER. THE PRODUCT IS BETTER OZONE, FLAME RESISTANT AND

    WEATHER AGEING.

    2. IN ORDER TO OBTAIN OZONE RESISTANCE PROPERTY, MINIMUM 30% PVC

    SHOULD BE BLENDED WITH NITRILE RUBBER. NITRILE / PVC BLENDS IS

    WIDELY USED IN FUEL HOSE,CONVEYOR BELT COVER, AND PRODUCED FOROUTDOOR APPLICATIONS.

    3. FOR DRY BLENDING MIXING PVC RESIN IS NORMALLY BLENDED WITH

    NITRILE IN POWER FORM TO GET BETTER HOMOGENITY. THIS TYPE OF

    BLENDING IS USED IN SHOE SOLF COMPOUND TO IMPROVE THE TEAR

    RESISTANCE AND LOW TEMPERATURE PROPERTY.
