EL Fest 2016: Mad Libs

What is mad libs?

•Mad Libs is a wacky word template game in which you need to fill in blanks to complete a story

• Think of….• Four adjectives (words that describe other words)• One nationality• Three nouns (words that mean ‘things’)• One plural noun • Two numbers• One shape• Two food items

Gameplay: Creating Answers

• Each team will receive an answer sheet to start with (Sheet A)• Teams will be given three minutes to fill in Sheet A

Gameplay: Presentation

• A second sheet will be given with the Mad Libs story (Sheet B).

• Teams are to fill in the words they have come up with into the story.

• Teams will nominate one or more students as a storyteller to read out the story.

Scoring

•Points will be awarded for:•Creativity of words (5 points)• Storytelling (10 points)•Use of teacher-facilitator (possible bonus 5 points)

Rules & Regulations

• While the aim of Mad Libs is to be fun and wacky, words that are offensive, sexual, religious, or political in nature are strictly prohibited.• Otherwise the only rule is – if you’re not

having fun, HAVE FUN!
