1. EIT Health EIT Health mission:

EIT Health promotes entrepreneurship and innovates in healthy living and active ageing, with the aim to

improve quality of life and healthcare across Europe.

Taking off with a brief introduction of EIT Health, the intention with this report is to

explain the set-up of the Scandinavian CLC and to inform about the partners and partner

representatives.

EIT Health is one of the largest healthcare initiatives worldwide. Its goal is to sustainably advance the

foundations of healthcare and thus promote the future conditions for healthier living and wellbeing of

people across Europe. EIT Health is leveraging the expertise of more than 140 leading organizations

spanning key areas of healthcare such as Pharma, MedTech, Payers, Research Institutions and Universities.

EIT Health offers best-in-class research capabilities, higher education and business expertise. With a budget

of €2 billion over the next decade, it will purposefully invest in Europe’s best entrepreneurial talents and

creative minds to foster the development and commercialization of smart product and service solutions in

the health sector, addressing the challenges imposed by demographic change and ageing societies.

Projects, Education activities and Business Creation activities are financed via in-kind contributions from

participating organisations and by funding requested from The EIT. More Information about EIT Health, its

The regional structure of EIT Health extends across Europe. With

its headquarters in Munich (Germany), EIT Health has six co-

location centers in London (UK/Ireland), Stockholm (Scandinavia),

Barcelona (Spain), Paris (France), Heidelberg (Germany) and

Rotterdam (Benelux). All six co-location centers are defined by the

EU Innovation. In addition, a group of InnoSTAR institutions based

in Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, and Wales are

included. These institutions have a high growth potential.

1.1 EIT Health in Scandinavia

The Scandinavian CLC was established on June 22, 2015 as a Swedish ‘Ideell förening’ (non-profit

association) located in Solna, Sweden. The association is controlled by a board of representatives of the

partners and has employed a full time Managing Director as responsible for running the day-to-day

business in the CLC. Further, the partners provide in-kind resources in form of part-time personnel

populating the CLC office functions and various working groups essential to the activities. Board

representatives and CLC Office staff are presented below.

Scandinavian CLC Vision

In 2025 the Scandinavian CLC is an efficient and recognized contributor to European

citizens being empowered to live active, healthy lives.

Scandinavian CLC Mission

Scandinavian CLC will promote and facilitate networking and activities contributing to

entrepreneurship and innovation within health and social care for healthy ageing,

especially focusing on user driven innovation.

Scandinavian CLC Strategy

Establish a Scandinavian platform for User driven Innovation, including Test Beds (Living

Labs) & Innovation Design, which can benefit all partners and has clear milestones for all

activities.

Use platform for User driven Innovation to generate new project ideas

Focus on projects on early detection, behavioural change and learning from big data

within chronic diseases in order to provide a broader platform for the future activities at

all levels.

Roles and responsibilities of the CLC office.

Continued support and lobbying for flagship projects such as “User Driven Innovation/Scandinavian Test Bed”.

Support and lobbying for initiation of European project matchmaking events.

Establishment, definition and start-up of Scandinavian working groups/committees for flagship projects and

business creation.

The establishment for improved information flow.

Work for creation of an appropriate process for selection of Campus applications.

Establish a good contact with networking organisations such as SweLife & Copenhagen Health Innovation in order

to identify potential win-win collaborations. Recruit more Associated Partners.
