Why Einstein's Equation Game?
Games make learning fun Lower’s anxiety and opens possibilities Competition is a motivator Provides a need to know more about
alternative algorithms Easily modified for differentiation, age or
ability
Equations, The Game of Creative
Mathematics Developed by Yale professor, Dr. Laymen E.
Allen in ‘60s $45 on Amazon Learning to Play Equations DVD - $10 YouTube instructions 40 years of research and improvement
What is needed?
24 dice 1 minute timer Playing Mat Dry erase markers Fun Foam Dice Mat
How to Play
Play with Shoulder Buddy Roll die, highest roll goes first Roll 12 dice, called Mover Organize dice or resources Mover selects a goal or answer Challenger determines if goal is possible or
not
Flubs P Flub = No solution is possible, Mover must prove
there are still possible solutions A Flub = Move allows a solution using at most one
more cube from resources, Challenge proves a solution can be made with one more cube from resources
C Flub = Mover should have challenged a pervious Flub
Can be a set up, so pay attention!
Keeping Score Keep it easy, the task is creating equations,
scoring should not be difficult One point for either finding a Flub or winning
with the last equation Give reward for team that wins most points,
no ties rewarded
