EHN1 status report
ProtoDUNESP ITI Meeting December 7th, 2017
07/12/2017 2
Inside the cryostat
➢ HV cup has been installed on the CPA and the CPA itself temporarily moved into its final position to check the alignment of the cup with the HV penetration
➢ Installation of resistors at the end of the temperature sensor cables lied down last week has been completed and the full chain tested
➢ False floor tiles have been reorganized into their final layout. False floor is not planned to be removed until field cage deployment
➢ Bridge Beam A (APA bridge beam) has been positioned in front of the TCO, ready to receive APA #1

Inside the Clean Room: APA#1
➢ HV bias short investigated, found and fixed last week. A cable carrying the bias voltage got caught behind the bracket supporting a CE box, with the bracket screw ripping off the wire insulation
➢ HV bias for all the planes has been tested. They all work
➢ The 2 CR boards connected to the 3 wires characterized by excessively low noise in cold (Matt’s talk from last week) were removed, examined at the microscope and the connections tested in LAr. Nothing broken or anomalous was found. Additional tests will be performed next week. 2 spare CR boards were installed on APA #1, CE boxes mounted back and tested
➢ Wire tension test and APA flushing with GN2 ongoing
➢ APA #1 insertion in the cryostat foreseen for tomorrow
07/12/2017 4
Inside the Clean Room: APA#2
➢ Wire tension measurement, APA pictorial map (more from Serhan and Andrzej next week) and APA frame survey done last Thursday and Friday
➢ PD bars installation performed on Tuesday
➢ CE boxes and cables assembled and tested yesterday. Currently being installed
➢ Installation of PD cables scheduled for tomorrow morning
➢ APA #2 foreseen to be moved in front of the Cold Box on Monday
07/12/2017 5
Cold Box
➢ Damaged plastic on the door repaired last week
➢ Rotation of temperature sensors, repair of the plastic inside the cold box, and removal of the broken optical fiber completed yesterday
➢ Cleaning of Cold Box inner walls ongoing
➢ Installation of light diffuser with new optical fiber scheduled for tomorrow. At this point the Cold Box will be ready to host APA #2
➢ Installation of the new heaters and switching of inlet and outlet gas pipes (to be able to cool down from the top) will be done in the next weeks
07/12/2017 6
Next months schedule: December
➢ Week of December 11th
➢ APA #2 insertion in the Cold Box and start of the warm tests
➢ Move CPA parts and tables in the clean room. Start assembly of second CPA pair
➢ Week of December 18th
➢ APA #2 warm tests
➢ CPA assembly and insertion in the cryostat of what is accomplished (CPA + top or all field cages)
07/12/2017 7
Next months schedule: January➢ Week of January 8th
➢ Reception of APA #3 and insertion in the Clean Room
➢ Week of January 15th
➢ APA #3 acceptance test and frame survey
➢ APA #3 PD installation
➢ APA #2 cold test
➢ Week of January 22nd
➢ APA #3 CE installation and APA insertion in the Cold Box
➢ APA #2 move from the Cold Box into the cryostat
➢ Week of January 29th
➢ APA #3 in the Cold Box, warm and cold tests
➢ Assembly of last CPA pair
07/12/2017 8
Next months schedule: February➢ Week of February 5th
➢ APA #3 in the cryostat: first APA plane moved into its final position and cabled up for readout/noise tests
➢ Start End Wall assembly
➢ Week of February 12th
➢ Completion of first two End Walls assembly and insertion inside the cryostat➢ APA #4 arrives
➢ Week of February 19th and February 26th
➢ Completion of the first drift field volume
➢ APA #4 insertion into the Clean Room, acceptance test, PD and CE installation
To be able to meet this schedule, it is crucial that all the required components gets to CERN in time: parts for APA #3 integration should arrive by the time CERN opens in January, parts for APA #4 integration by end of January, readout flanges, cable trays and warm cables installed by
end of January
