1.1 Children and vulnerable people safety• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8

years and above and persons with reduced physical,sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experienceand knowledge if they have been given supervision orinstruction concerning the use of the appliance in asafe way and understand the hazards involved.

• Do not let children play with the appliance.• Keep all packaging away from children and dispose of

1.2 General Safety• WARNING: The appliance and its accessible parts

become hot during use. Care should be taken to avoidtouching heating elements. Children less than 8 yearsof age shall be kept away unless continuouslysupervised.

• Do not operate the appliance by means of an externaltimer or separate remote-control system.

• WARNING: Unattended cooking on a hob with fat oroil can be dangerous and may result in fire.

• NEVER try to extinguish a fire with water, but switchoff the appliance and then cover flame e.g. with a lidor a fire blanket.

• CAUTION: The cooking process has to be supervised.A short term cooking process has to be supervisedcontinuously.

• WARNING: Danger of fire: Do not store items on thecooking surfaces.

• Metallic objects such as knives, forks, spoons and lidsshould not be placed on the hob surface since theycan get hot.

• Do not use a steam cleaner to clean the appliance.• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by

the manufacturer, an authorized Service or similarlyqualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

• Where the appliance is directly connected to thepower supply, an all-pole isolating switch with acontact gap is required. Complete disconnection incompliance with the conditions specified inovervoltage category III must be guaranteed. Theearth cable is excluded from this.

• When you route the mains cable, make sure that thecable doesn't come into direct contact (for exampleusing insulating sleeving) with parts that can reachtemperatures of more than 50°C above roomtemperature.

• WARNING: Use only hob guards designed by themanufacturer of the cooking appliance or indicated bythe manufacturer of the appliance in the instructionsfor use as suitable or hob guards incorporated in theappliance. The use of inappropriate guards can causeaccidents.

• Keep the minimum distance from theother appliances and units.

• Always take care when moving theappliance as it is heavy. Always usesafety gloves and enclosed footwear.

• Seal the cut surfaces with a sealant toprevent moisture to cause swelling.

• Protect the bottom of the appliancefrom steam and moisture.

• Do not install the appliance adjacentto a door or under a window. Thisprevents hot cookware to fall from theappliance when the door or thewindow is opened.

• If the appliance is installed abovedrawers make sure that the space,between the bottom of the applianceand the upper drawer, is sufficient forair circulation.

• The underside of the appliance canget hot when in use. If an oven hasnot been fitted underneath the hoband underside of the appliance isaccessible and could allow a user oritems stored beneath the hob to comein direct contact with the underside ofthe hob, an intermediate protectionpanel must be fitted.

• Plywood or kitchen carcass material isacceptable for the panel.

• The panel must be removable forservicing. Screws used to fix thepanel must be accessible afterinstallation.

2.2 Electrical ConnectionWARNING!Risk of fire and electricalshock.

• All electrical connections should bemade by a qualified electrician.

• The appliance must be earthed.• Before carrying out any operation

make sure that the appliance isdisconnected from the power supply.

• Make sure that the electricalinformation on the rating plate agreeswith the power supply. If not, contactan electrician.

• Make sure the appliance is installedcorrectly. Loose and incorrectelectricity mains cable or plug (ifapplicable) can make the terminalbecome too hot.

• Use the correct electricity mainscable.

• Do not let the electricity mains cabletangle.

• Make sure that a shock protection isinstalled.

• Use the strain relief clamp on thecable.

• Make sure the mains cable or plug (ifapplicable) does not touch the hotappliance or hot cookware, when youconnect the appliance to the nearsockets

• Do not use multi-plug adapters andextension cables.

• Make sure not to cause damage tothe mains plug (if applicable) or to themains cable. Contact our AuthorisedService Centre or an electrician tochange a damaged mains cable.

• The shock protection of live andinsulated parts must be fastened insuch a way that it cannot be removedwithout tools.

• Connect the mains plug to the mainssocket only at the end of theinstallation. Make sure that there isaccess to the mains plug after theinstallation.

• If the mains socket is loose, do notconnect the mains plug.

• Do not pull the mains cable todisconnect the appliance. Always pullthe mains plug.

• Use only correct isolation devices: lineprotecting cut-outs, fuses (screw typefuses removed from the holder), earthleakage trips and contactors.

• The electrical installation must havean isolation device which lets youdisconnect the appliance from themains at all poles. The isolationdevice must have a contact openingwidth of minimum 3 mm.

2.3 Gas connection• All gas connections should be made

by a qualified person.• Before installation, make sure that the

local distribution conditions (nature ofthe gas and gas pressure) and theadjustment of the appliance arecompatible.

• Make sure that there is air circulationaround the appliance.

• The information about the gas supplyis on the rating plate.

• This appliance is not connected to adevice, which evacuates the productsof combustion. Make sure to connectthe appliance according to currentinstallation regulations. Pay attentionto requirements regarding adequateventilation.

2.4 UseWARNING!Risk of injury, burns andelectrical shock.

• Remove all the packaging, labellingand protective film (if applicable)before first use.

• Use this appliance in a householdenvironment.

• Do not change the specification of thisappliance.

• Make sure that the ventilationopenings are not blocked.

• Do not let the appliance stayunattended during operation.

• Set the cooking zone to “off” aftereach use.

• Do not put cutlery or saucepan lids onthe cooking zones. They can becomehot.

• Do not operate the appliance with wethands or when it has contact withwater.

• Do not use the appliance as a worksurface or as a storage surface.

• When you place food into hot oil, itmay splash.

WARNING!Risk of fire and explosion

• Fats and oil when heated can releaseflammable vapours. Keep flames orheated objects away from fats andoils when you cook with them.

• The vapours that very hot oil releasescan cause spontaneous combustion.

• Used oil, that can contain foodremnants, can cause fire at a lowertemperature than oil used for the firsttime.

• Do not put flammable products oritems that are wet with flammableproducts in, near or on the appliance.

WARNING!Risk of damage to theappliance.

• Do not keep hot cookware on thecontrol panel.

• Do not let cookware to boil dry.• Be careful not to let objects or

cookware fall on the appliance. Thesurface can be damaged.

• Do not activate the cooking zoneswith empty cookware or withoutcookware.

• Do not put aluminium foil on theappliance.

• Use only stable cookware with thecorrect shape and diameter largerthan the dimensions of the burners.

• Make sure cookware is centrallypositioned on the burners.

• Make sure the flame does not go outwhen you quickly turn the knob fromthe maximum to the minimumposition.

• Use only the accessories suppliedwith the appliance.

• Do not install a flame diffuser on theburner.

• The use of a gas cooking applianceresults in the production of heat andmoisture. Provide good ventilation inthe room where the appliance isinstalled.

• Prolonged intensive use of theappliance may call for additionalventilation, for example opening of awindow, or more effective ventilation,for example increasing the level ofmechanical ventilation where present.

• This appliance is for cookingpurposes only. It must not be used forother purposes, for example roomheating.

• Do not let acid liquids, for examplevinegar, lemon juice or limescaleremover, touch the hob. This cancause matt patches.

• Discoloration of the enamel orstainless steel has no effect on theperformance of the appliance.

2.5 Care and cleaningWARNING!Do not remove the buttons,knobs or gaskets from thecontrol panel. Water may getinside the appliance andcause damage.

• Clean regularly the appliance toprevent the deterioration of thesurface material.

• Deactivate the appliance and let itcool down before you clean it.

• Disconnect the appliance from theelectrical supply before maintenance.

• Do not use water spray and steam toclean the appliance.

• Clean the appliance with a moist softcloth. Only use neutral detergents. Donot use any abrasive products,abrasive cleaning pads, solvents ormetal objects.

• Do not clean the burners in thedishwasher.

2.6 DisposalWARNING!Risk of injury or suffocation.

• Contact your municipal authority forinformation on how to discard theappliance correctly.

• Disconnect the appliance from themains supply.

• Cut off the mains electrical cableclose to the appliance and dispose ofit.

• Flat the external gas pipes.

2.7 Service• To repair the appliance contact an

Authorised Service Centre.• Use original spare parts only.

4.2 Ignition of the burnerAlways light the burnerbefore you put on thecookware.

WARNING!Be very careful when youuse open fire in the kitchenenvironment. Themanufacturer declines anyresponsibility in case of theflame misuse.

1. Push the control knob down and turnit counterclockwise to the maximumgas supply position ( ).

2. Keep the control knob pushed forequal or less than 10 seconds. Thislets the thermocouple warm up. Ifnot, the gas supply is interrupted.

3. Adjust the flame after it is regular.If after some tries the burnerdoes not light, check if thecrown and its cap are incorrect positions.

WARNING!Do not keep the control knobpushed for more than 15seconds. If the burner doesnot light after 15 seconds,release the control knob,turn it into off position and tryto light the burner again afterminimum 1 minute.

CAUTION!In the absence of electricityyou can ignite the burnerwithout electrical device; inthis case approach theburner with a flame, turn thecontrol knob counter-clockwise to maximum gassupply position and push itdown. Keep the control knobpushed for equal or lessthan 10 seconds to let thethermocouple warm up.

If the burner accidentallygoes out, turn the controlknob to the off position andtry to light the burner againafter minimum 1 minute.

The spark generator canstart automatically when youswitch on the mains, afterinstallation or a power cut. Itis normal.

The hob is supplied with theprogressive valves. Theymake the flame regulationmore precise.

4.3 Turning the burner offTo put the flame out, turn the knob to theoff position .

WARNING!Always turn the flame downor switch it off before youremove the pans from theburner.

5.1 CookwareCAUTION!Do not use cast iron pans,potstones, earthenware, grillor toaster plates. Thestainless steel can becometarnished if it is too muchheated.

WARNING!Do not put the same pan ontwo burners.

WARNING!Do not put unstable ordamaged pots on the burnerto prevent from spill andinjury.

CAUTION!Make sure that the bottomsof pots do not stand abovethe control knob, otherwisethe flame heats the controlknob up.

CAUTION!Make sure that pot handlesare not above the front edgeof the cooktop.

CAUTION!Make sure that the pots areplaced centrally on theburner in order to getmaximum stability and to getlower gas consumption.

6. CARE AND CLEANINGWARNING!Refer to Safety chapters.

6.1 General information• Clean the hob after each use.• Always use cookware with clean

bottom.• Scratches or dark stains on the

surface have no effect on how the hoboperates.

• Use a special cleaner applicable forthe surface of the hob.

Stainless steel• Wash stainless steel parts with water,

and then dry them with a soft cloth.• To remove burn food, fat and

stubborn stains, let them soak for a

few minutes in a small amount of milddetergent before cleaning.

• Use cleaning products designedspecifically for cleaning stainless steelin order to protect the steel surfaces.

• Do not use cleaning productscontaining corrosive chemicals suchas chlorides, do not clean the surfacewith disinfectants, stain or rustremovers and immersion cleaners.

6.2 Pan supportsThe pan supports are notresistant to washing in adishwasher. They must bewashed by hand.

Be very careful whenyou replace the pansupports to prevent thehob top from damage.

2. The enamel coating occasionally canhave rough edges, so be carefulwhen you wash the pan supports byhand and dry them. If necessary,remove stubborn stains with a pastecleaner.

3. After you clean the pan supports,make sure that they are in correctpositions.

4. For the burner to operate correctly,make sure that the arms of the pansupports are aligned with the centreof the burner.

6.3 Cleaning the hob• Remove immediately: melted plastic,

plastic foil, sugar and food with sugar.If not, the dirt can cause damage tothe hob. Take care to avoid burns.

• Remove when the hob issufficiently cool: limescale rings,water rings, fat stains, shiny metallicdiscoloration. Clean the hob with amoist cloth and non-abrasivedetergent. After cleaning, wipe thehob dry with a soft cloth.

• To clean the enamelled parts, capand crown, wash them with warmsoapy water and dry them carefullybefore you put them back on.

6.4 Cleaning the spark plugThis feature is obtained through aceramic ignition candle with a metalelectrode. Keep these components wellclean to prevent difficult lighting andcheck that the burner crown holes arenot obstructed.

6.5 Periodic maintenanceSpeak to your local Authorised ServiceCentre periodically to check theconditions of the gas supply pipe and thepressure adjuster, if fitted.

7.1 What to do if...

Problem Possible cause RemedyThere is no spark whenyou try to activate thespark generator.

The hob is not connectedto an electrical supply or itis connected incorrectly.

The flame extinguishes im‐mediately after ignition.

Thermocouple is not heat‐ed up sufficiently.

After lightning the flame,keep the knob pushed forequal or less than 10 sec‐onds.

The flame ring is uneven. Burner crown is blockedwith food residues.

Make sure that the injectoris not blocked and theburner crown is clean.

7.2 If you cannot find asolution...If you cannot find a solution to theproblem yourself, contact your dealer oran Authorised Service Centre. Give thedata from the rating plate. Make sure,you operated the hob correctly. If not theservicing by a service technician or

dealer will not be free of charge, alsoduring the warranty period. Theinstructions about the Service Centreand conditions of guarantee are in theguarantee booklet.

8.2 Important safetyrequirementsThis hob must be installed in accordancewith the Gas Safety (Installation andUse) Regulations (Current Edition) andthe IEE Wiring Regulations (CurrentEdition).

For appliances installed in the Republicof Ireland please refer to NSAI- DomesticGas Installation I.S. 813 Current Editionsand the ETCI Rules for ElectricalInstallations.Provision for ventilationDetailed recommendations are containedin the following British Standards CodesOf Practice: B.S. 6172/B.S. 5440, Par. 2and B.S. 6891 Current Editions.The hob should not be installed in a bedsitting room with a volume of less than20 m³. If it is installed in a room ofvolume less than 5 m³ an air vent ofeffective area of 100 cm² is required. If itis installed in a room of volume between5 m³ and 10 m³ an air vent of effectivearea of 50 cm² is required, while if thevolume exceeds 11 m³ no air vent isrequired.

8.3 Gas ConnectionWARNING!Any gas installation must becarried out by a GAS SAFEREGISTER installer.

Make sure that, once the hob is installed,it is easily accessible for the engineer inthe event of a breakdown.The manufacturer will not accept liability,should the above instructions or any ofthe other safety instructions incorporatedin this instruction booklet be ignored.On the end of the shaft, which includesthe R 1/2" threaded elbow, adjustment isfixed so that the washer is fitted betweenthe components as shown in thediagram. Screw the parts togetherwithout using excessive force.

Elbow supplied with the applianceConnection to the gas supply should bewith either rigid or semi-rigid pipe, i.e.steel or copper.The connection should be suitable forconnecting to R 1/2 (1/2 BSP malethread).When the final connection has beenmade, it is essential that a thorough leaktest is carried out on the hob andinstallation.Make sure that the main connection pipedoes not exert any strain on the hob.If you use flexible metal pipes make surethat they agree to ISO 10380 and ISO10807 standards. Be careful they do notcome in touch with mobile parts or theyare not squeezed. Also be careful whenthe hob is put together with an oven.

CAUTION!It is important to install theelbow correctly, with theshoulder on the end of thethread, fitted to the hobconnecting pipe.

CAUTION!Failure to ensure the correctassembly will cause leakageof gas.

CAUTION!Make sure that the gassupply pressure of theappliance obeys therecommended values.

Rigid connection:Carry out connection by using metal rigidpipes (copper with mechanical end).

8.4 Injectors replacement1. Remove the pan supports.2. Remove the caps and crowns of the

burner.3. With a socket spanner 7 remove the

injectors and replace them with theones which are necessary for thetype of gas you use (see table in"Technical Information" chapter).

4. Assemble the parts, follow the sameprocedure backwards.

5. Replace the rating plate (it is near thegas supply pipe) with the one for thenew type of gas supply. You can findthis plate in the package suppliedwith the appliance.

If the supply gas pressure is changeableor different from the necessary pressure,you must fit an applicable pressureadjuster on the gas supply pipe.

8.5 Adjustment of minimumlevelTo adjust the minimum level of theburners:1. Light the burner.2. Turn the knob on the minimum

position.3. Remove the knob.4. With a thin screwdriver, adjust the

bypass screw position (A).A

5. If you change:• from natural gas G20 20 mbar to

liquid gas, fully tighten the bypassscrew in.

• from liquid gas to natural gas G2020 mbar, undo the bypass screwapproximately 1/4 of a turn.

WARNING!Make sure the flame doesnot go out when you quicklyturn the knob from themaximum position to theminimum position.

8.6 Electrical connection• Do not pull the mains cable to

disconnect the appliance. Always pullthe mains plug (if applicable).

• The appliance must not be connectedwith an extension cable, an adapter ora multiple socket. There is a risk offire.

8.7 Replacement of theconnection cable

The replacement of electriccable must be carried outexclusively by the serviceforce centre or by personnelwith similar competencies, inaccordance with the currentregulations.

To replace the connectioncable use only H03V2V2-FT90 or equivalent type.Make sure that the cablesection is applicable to thevoltage load and the workingtemperature. The yellow/green earth wire (B) must beapproximately 2 cm longerthan the live and neutral wire(A).
