THE PROPERTY

Gieseke Cosmetic International GmbH is a hairdressing and cosmetics wholesaler. In total, more than 14,000 articles belong to its range – from shampoo to nail care products. Near to Hanover on around 9,000 square metres of storage space, more than 7,000 pallet spaces, 29.000 picking places and the neweststorage technology are available. A computer-controlled merchandise management system and electronic recording of all item data ensure complete documentation of every consignment.

The shelf-based lighting had to be improved so that employees could hand-pick small parts without getting fatigued. At the same time, the energy and maintenance costs also had to be significantly reduced. All rebuilding measures had to take place during ongoing operations.

First, we replaced the existing mercury vapour lamps in the high-bay luminaires with modern LED lighting. Motion sensors control new light lines in the individual aisles. When an emplo-yee enters an aisle, the light goes to 100 per cent. After four minutes without movement, the luminous flux is reduced to 30 per cent; after another four minutes without movement, it is dimmed to 0 per cent. The customer can conveniently reprogram the sensors via a remote control. Since the renovation of the lighting, the employees have benefited from a new level of visual comfort: the aisles are better lit and more homogeneous, and the colour rendering is much more natural. At the same time, we were able to reduce the customer’s energy consumption for lighting by more than 70 per cent.

THE PROPERTY

The central warehouse of Edeka Minden-Hannover covers 60,000 square metres and is located near Magdeburg. From here, the company supplies sales outlets throughout the entire business area with dry goods.

TASK AND SOLUTION

The approximately 15-year-old lighting system of the central warehouse had to be replaced during ongoing operations. The main goal was to significantly reduce energy and maintenance costs. Based on a lighting concept from Hanse Licht Kontor GmbH, Ahrensburg, we installed a new LED light-line system with various optics for the best light distributions in the high-rack warehouse, in the staging area and in the empties warehouse. In very high areas, we used a crane to install high-bay luminai-res with a medium beam optic. In the corridors, we used light lines with indirect lighting in order to ensure homogeneous illumination of the floor, walls and ceiling. For rooms with special require-ments, we provided waterproof luminaires and illuminated the outdoor areas with modern street lighting luminaires. In order to keep the costs of electrical assembly as low as possible, we retained existing luminaire positions. These measures enabled us to reduce energy costs by 71 per cent. In addition, sensor technology in picking aisles makes a payback time of just 2.9 years is possible.

TASK AND SOLUTION

A lighting concept had to be developed for the most diverse logistics and production areas, indoors and outdoors, as well as for offices and lecture rooms. For the state-of-the-art building, we realised a lighting concept that relied exclusively on energy-efficient LED lighting. In the storage area, light lines with optimised lighting control via motion sensors were primarily used, while ultra-flat LED reces-sed luminaires and downlights were mainly used in the offices. For the outdoor area, we used modern LED street luminaires – particu-larly for area and dock lighting. Our partner Hoppenbrouwers Techniek carried out the professional installation.

THE PROPERTY

Capi Europe produces designer flowerpots for indoor and outdoor areas. Most of its collection comes from its site in Tilburg, Netherlands. The production facilities there, together with the central warehouse and office space, covers around 22,000 square metres.
