    Dear Industry Colleagues,

Global HSE is a platform for HSE leaders to address the most pressing issues and engage on the most promising opportunities of the ever-evolving industry trends. This year you will notice that we have expanded the horizons of Global HSE both in the Exhibition and Conference programme. With the theme HSE Excellence, Efficiency, Resilience and Sustainability this year our approach is to enable new businesses to flow smoothly, profitably and successfully. As the core component of the show the conference will have 4 parallel tracks focusing on process safety, occupational health and sustainability.

As we take a sneak peak to Global HSE 2018, over 1500 meetings were arranged, enabling new businesses to flow smoothly and successfully, with strong representation from international industry players and decision makers. There are many more highlights awaiting our visitors at this year’s Global HSE in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Being the key meeting point for the HSE sector in the world, the show will also include many seminars, presentations and workshops. Theme: HSE Excellence – Efficiency | Resilience | SustainabilityHealth, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management is an integral and essential part of the way successful businesses are conducted, HSE is considered an equal part of the wider system for the management of business and could mean in many cases the success of failure of business.Sustaining businesses, being Resilient and Efficient in today’s competitive and dynamic international market and if organisations wants to survive they have no choice but to consider HSE and welfare of their employees as well as the protection of the environment. In is important for them to make sure that HSE is considered and emphasized at all stages of the business and that it is being managed to the requirement of International best practices and that in line with stakeholders’ expectations. Organisations that choose to pay closer attention to these basic and essential requirements would be more successful and robust. Business Excellence can only be achieved through HSE excellence as it would ensure sustainability of the business, it will protect its employees, the environment and ensure continuity of the business.

Theme: HSE Sustainability | Are We Doing Enough? We strive to be a successful company by acting with social responsibility and integrating HSE in all our processes which in turn help secure our future and create added value for all – our customers, employees, shareholders, business partners and the environment. Many companies all adopted Zero incidents concepts which many say it is aspirational but it the right approach to calibrating the whole organisation culture and making sure that it is driven to the elimination of injuries, incidents and environmental incidents. So are we doing enough in creating the right HSE culture, sustaining it and ensuring that whole organisation is aligned to this important concept. It is easier said than done as it requires a lot of commitment, investment and leadership drive.

The session will address these questions.

The role of creating effective enterprise risk management registers, planning for crisis and emergency scenarios, preparing response plans and business continuity plans has become one of the most important and significant requirements in organisations today. The session will also cover some aspects of stakeholder and contractor management along with effective management systems and their implementation during projects.

Environment and sustainability are issues that are discussed at various levels especially at the board level. Gone are the days when companies used to pay little or no attention to their neighboring communities. All stakeholders including the community need to be consulted on regular bases if sustainable development is to be established. This session will invigorate a dialogue between the regulators, the community and companies through the presentations and discussion.

Process Safety Management (PSM) involves several elements that are interlinked and interdependent. The objective is to reduce the frequency and severity of incidents resulting from release of chemicals and other energy sources. Many organisations around the world have implemented PSM in their organisation and have seen major improvements in their safety performance and particular in process safety. This session will highlight some of the key learnings from the implementation of PSM and specifically highlight challenges that are likely to surface due to the “interdependent” nature of the elements.

Theme: Operational Efficiency | How to Achieve it through HSE??

Effective HSE management depends partly on the management system in the organisation but also the commitment of the leadership and the behavior of every individual in an organisation. Operationalizing HSE through a systematic approach can help 0gasniations to become more effective and efficient. Operational efficiency can be achieved by making sure that adequate attention is given to performance monitoring, holding people accountable, ensuring that systems and processes are in place to manage risk and that there is a robust continuous improvement system that ensure that all processes are reviewed regularly and updated to suit the dynamic risk profile of the organisation. This session should examine the various systems available which are utilized to enhance HSE processes.

Theme: Industrial Revolution 4.0 in HSEIndustrial Revolution 4.0 means real-time communication, big data, human-machine cooperation, remote sensing, monitoring and process control and autonomous equipment. As the fourth industrial revolution or Industry 4.0 becomes the predominant reality, it will bring new paradigm shifts, which will have an impact on the management of HSE. Are we giving due consideration to changes in HSE and is HSE consequences of Industry 4.0 being evaluated properly amid this new and accelerating industrial trend. Do we stand to lose any of the gains made through proactive approaches and are there rational grounds for major concerns? We need to carefully examine all these issues and to ensure that HSE isn’t greatly impacted or will be impacted with industry revolution 4.0. It is important for US a safety professional to ensure that technologies driving Industry 4.0 are not developed in silos and isolation, they must make sure that it doesn’t have negative impact on HSE. This session will discuss industry 4.0 and how is it catered for in HSE management.

Checking that organisations are managing risks is a vital and unfortunately overlooked and not given adequate attention. If practice correctly, It will give the organisation some level of confidence that it is doing enough to keep on top of HSE and maybe show how could they do things better in the future. Checking involves setting up an effective monitoring system, backed up with sensible performance measures. Good-quality monitoring will not just identify problems but will help also understand what caused them and what sort of changes are needed to address them. Poor monitoring might tell you that something is wrong but may not help understand why, or what to do about it.HSE compliance Monitoring is an essential governance tool and one that will ensure that things in originations either are going well or show that system and processes are not delivering to expectations. This will also enable companies to establish initiatives that will improve HSE systems and make it contribute effectively to the continuous improvement process. This session will discuss HSE compliance and monitoring mechanism and how KPIs are established.

Theme: Is Incident & Injury Free Concept Aspirational or Achievable?

There is often a push to achieve a goal of zero harm in the workplace. is this possible? and should we be seeking to set the standard to this high level? Is it achievable or aspirational goal? Even though it is a concept that was adopted by many organisations which advocate that a workplace can operate without exposing any person to any injury. The view is taken that most workers today go through their working life without suffering any injury and so it should be possible to design and implement safe systems of work that will have the effect that no worker suffers an injury. The position is often coupled with the view that zero harm is achievable if leaders and managers embrace it.
