What is the issue for Cultural Heritage?

Europe has lost much of its cultural heritage as a result of wars, negligence, robberies and vandalism, natural catastrophes, pollution, urbanisation and environmental phenomena like climate change.

National research programmes are not enough to preserve Europe’s cultural heritage. An EU-wide coordinated effort is urgently needed.

JPI’s are structured strategic processes consisting of:

Vision Document - contains the policy context, the objectives, the state of the art and early indications of broad research priorities.

Strategic Research Agenda – outlines the priority research areas to be developed, the objectives, the outcomes and the desired impacts.

JPI CH main task 2012:

WP2. Development and elaboration of the European Strategic Research Agenda:

-collect input of member states via National Consultation Panels

-a Common Framework Template is provided to

identify research areas, research gaps and prioritize needs

National Consultation Panel Belgium (NCP)

Every member state has been asked to organize a National Consultation Panel to ensure that information on research gaps and needs is gathered effectively and to ensure that the resulting Strategic Research Agenda is thorough and comprehensive.

It is expected that the panel will have members drawn from a range of organisations such as universities, museums, archives, libraries, funding bodies and heritage agencies in Belgium.

Representatives of JPI CH Belgium launched “Call for expressions of interest (12/2011 till 01/2012)”

Call was concluded successfully!

Belgian input for EU Stategic Research Agenda:

National Consultation Panel Belgium consists of 22 members to ensure equal spread of expertise covering tangible, intangible and digital cultural heritage.

The National Consultation Panel are asked to provide their input by April 13: Prioritize 12 research questions and if necessary identify additional gaps

The GB and EB team will summarize the input of individual members to work out the Belgian Strategic Research Agenda by May 4th
