As the sun lowered itself over Torch Lake on Saturday evening, supporters of the Grass River Natural Area (GRNA) enjoyed great music by the Michigan band Steppin’ In It and Joshua Davis, delicious local eats by Antrim Catering and local beverages provided by Short’s Brewing at the Annual Benefi t Concert Event at the Alden Depot Park. Close to 400 tickets for the event were sold and $21,000 was raised. Funds generated from the evening will help sustain efforts to maintain, protect and conserve the beautiful natural landscape, one of our state’s premier nature preserves. “This event was so well-organized thanks to all who volunteered to make it a great success. We are grateful to have so much local support and generous sponsors that makes this concert benefi t the biggest event of the year for GRNA,” commented Executive Director Haley Breniser.
“Concert attendees were very pleased with the entire evening from the quality of the band to the great food and a huge thanks to our tremendous sponsors and volunteers,” said Marlene Hulteen, Concert Planning Committee member and GRNA supporter.
Since the 1960’s GRNA has been protected by hundreds of local caring individuals, businesses and foundations that have maintained a legacy of commitment to preserving one of our area’s most precious stretches of land for all to enjoy. Recently,
