3 Provide flow by pulling Snap-Tab of the Edwards TruWave disposable pressure transducer. Slowly deliver priming solution to remove air. 4 Close plunger and remove all air from the system. Ensure that VAMP Jr. and catheter connection is a fluid-to-fluid connection. 5 Close the distal shut off valve by turning the handle perpendicular to the tubing. Smoothly and evenly pull up on the reservoir plunger to draw the required amount of clearing volume consistent with the patient’s clinical condition, patient's size, or your hospital protocol. (Recommended pull rate is 1 cc every 10-15 seconds.) PRIMING DRAWING THE CLEARING VOLUME 1 Open reservoir plunger to approximately 1/2 cc to facilitate flow of priming solution. 2 With the shut-off valve in the open position (parallel to the tubing), hold sampling site above the Edwards VAMP Jr. reservoir at 45° angle. 10 Open theproximalshut-offvalve byturninghandleparallel to tubing.

11 Slowly, smoothly,and evenly, pushdown on theplunger until it isfully closed.(Recommendedrate is 1 cc every10-15 seconds.)

12 Fill syringe with flush solution. Attach Interlink NeedleLess cannula to the syringe. Ensure syringe and cannula are free of air bubbles. Swab distal access port. Insert syringe and cannula into the distal access port. Slowly flush line per hospital procedure. Open thedistal one-way valve.

7 Swab proximal sample site. Ensure plunger is depressed to the bottom of the syringe. Attach cannula. Push cannula intoproximal sample site.

9 While holding the cannula,remove thesyringe/cannulafrom the sampling site by pullingstraight out.

8 Slowly draw theblood sample.
