Key Findings
• 17.5% of all educators feel they are not fairly compensated; 69.5% feel they are paid a sufficient amount.
• Educators report working 12 hours a day on average.
• Educators who feel strongly that they are not fairly compensated reported working only 10.8 hours a day on average.
• 81% of educators have pursued training or certification to move up the salary scale within education.
– 67% of educators who received training or certification feel it improved their teaching, while only 22% of educators who have not pursued additional training or certification feel it would improve their teaching.
• Only 23% of educators state that they would alter their teaching methods if a bonus was given for improved student performance.

For all educators surveyed, the average amount of hours worked daily is 12.
• Educators from secondary schools report working 12.9 hours a day.
• 1st year educators reported working 17 hours a day on average, at least three hours longer than educators with more years of experience.
• Teachers reported working slightly more hours a day on average than district administrators, but fewer than school administrators.

Educators reported working an average of 10 hours at work and 2 hours at home.
• The average number of hours for 1st year educators outside of school is 4.8 hours, more than twice as much as educators of any other experience level.
