Dear Parents and Friends,
WELCOME BACK TO TERM 4!WELCOME BACK TO TERM 4!
I trust you enjoyed the holiday and the quality family time it provided to do all those things together that the busy term precludes you from doing. Our children returned to school on Tuesday as enthusiastic as ever and as always beautifully turned out in uniform.
The most enthusiastic of our children were our Year 6 children who departed for their annual camp to Fairbridge Village located on the South West Highway Pinjarra. My sincere thanks to all Year 6 parents who provided this opportunity for their children and to Mrs Healey, Mrs Heggs and Mr Coci who accompanied the children.
OUR BUSY TERM PLANNEOUR BUSY TERM PLANNERR
Accompanying this Informer is our busy Term Planner. There are several events that ask you to come along to school and be part of your children’s learning. There are a few major ones that probably require some roster changes and child sitting arrangements so you may
want to diarise these.

SCHOOL BLESSINGSCHOOL BLESSING
At a recent P&C Meeting, I mentioned that, as a new school, we had never offered up any Thanksgiving & Blessing for the wonderful facilities we enjoy. Several of the members supported my idea to ask one of our local Rectors to come in and conduct a short service to do this. I have gone ahead and arranged for this to occur on Thursday, 30 October. The service will be conducted after school hours and will commence at 3.15PM. It should not take more than 15 minutes. All parents, staff and children accompanied by their parents are invited to attend. I need to emphasise that this is by no means a compulsory activity and your attendance is entirely up to you and your Beliefs. I look
forward to your attendance and participation.

THE HOLIDAYTHE HOLIDAY
Our sincere thanks to Miss Davis, Ibu Yang, Mr and Mrs Paterson, Heath, Aiden and Kate who visited our sister school SD 4 Kaba Kaba over the last holiday. A superb reception was organised for them as honoured guests, and we now have an even better picture of their needs based on first hand observation. We will continue to finance essential projects from
the money that was so kindly donated by our community.
The photos below are a wonderful representation of life in SD 4

RISKY BEHAVIOUR IN CRISKY BEHAVIOUR IN CARPARKS AROUND THE SCHOOLARPARKS AROUND THE SCHOOL
Parents and carers, please ensure that you park in designated parking bays and not in open spaces which are there to facilitate the flow of traffic. At present, a small number of people are blocking the car parking area when dropping off and picking up children in the carpark. This area clearly marked No Standing is blocking traffic on the road, particularly at the north end of the Egerton Road carpark on Egerton Road and coming out of Bolero Road attempting to turn left. The children who are exiting these illegally parked vehicles are being put at risk by running or
walking through moving traffic in the carpark.
Please note school carparks are bound by the same rules and regulations as all public parking areas in the City of Swan and at times parking inspectors do attend the school. Please note all vehicles parking in unauthorized areas are subject to
prosecution.
SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHSSCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS
Kapture Photography has been commissioned to photograph our children next week and we look forward to seeing all the bright, smiling
faces on the day.
Kindy A and C, Banksia to Grevillea will be photographed on Wednesday, 22 October.
Kindy B and D, Hovea and Wattle will be photographed on Thursday, 23 October.
Sibling photos are also available (only siblings currently attending Aveley PS) and if you would like sibling photos please order these online. Sibling photos will be taken on Thursday, 23
October during recess and lunch.
If your child does not attend Kindergarten on this day please
bring them to school dressed and ready in full uniform.
Kapture Photography Envelopes outling the packages and costing details went home with the children on the last week of last term. If you have chosen to pre-order the photos online which is a quick simple process you do not need to bring anything on the day. Alternatively please complete the envelope and hand it back to the class teacher on or before the day. The class teacher will retain it until the photo day. Please include correct monies as no change will be given or complete the credit card section. We look forward to seeing all the children dressed
in full school uniform looking their best.
SPORTS CARNIVALSPORTS CARNIVAL
Next Wednesday, 22 October children from Year 3 to 6 will be participating in Jumps and Throws as part of our Sports Carnival with our full Carnival taking place on Friday,
24 October.
We encourage all parents to attend and show your support wearing the colours from your childs House. Bring along a picnic blanket and enjoy the day in the sunshine
with a Sausage Sizzle and a coffee.

GREVILLEA CULTURAL LEARNINGGREVILLEA CULTURAL LEARNING
During Term 3, Grevillea block had a wonderful experience learning a little about the Torres Strait Island culture. Mr Cedar showed the students musical instruments made traditionally. He modeled the use of each instrument and gave the children an opportunity to try them out for themselves. In conversation with the group, Mr Cedar explained how they play an important part in his culture. The children were taught a song called, “Taba Naba”. It was a song of friendship and sharing. The highlight of the visit was when Mr Cedar shared his family animal totem with the group, “The Shark”. He showed the children a dance that represented the shark swimming peacefully through the ocean
and then quickly switching to hunting mode.
The Grevillea block teachers would like to thank the Cedar family for sharing their culture with our students. It was an engaging
snap shot of one of our remarkable indigenous cultures.
