Hi, my name is Larry Veilleux and I am the Director of Spirent Education

Services. This presentation describes Spirent Campus, how to access Spirent

Campus content, and the training that is available online.

Spirent Campus is a dynamic learning system that is accessed online, at any

time, from anywhere that has Internet access. It consists of Web-based training

Courses and Topics. There are also Certification tracks for some aspects of the

products. Spirent Campus is now offered as a value added service to customers

with existing support contracts. Your login to the Customer Service Center

provides access to Spirent Campus in the Spirent Knowledge Base.

The Spirent Customer Service Center, also know as the CSC, is our online

support portal. The Spirent Knowledge Base, also know as the KB, is a

component of the CSC. The Knowledge Base contains the latest information and

knowledge on Spirent products. Spirent Campus is actually a component of the

KB. As a component of the KB, Spirent Campus training is also indexed for the

KB search results. Full access rights into the KB, and therefore Spirent Campus,

is granted once you log into the CSC.

You can access the CSC using the URL: support.spirent.com. You must sign in

to have access to all of the Spirent Campus content. Your sign in is contingent

on your company owning a current Spirent Support Contract. Therefore, Spirent

Campus is a value-added component of your company’s support contract.

If you are not sure if you are entitled to CSC access, just select the Sign in link

and then New User. Make sure that you use your company e-mail address.

Spirent Front Line representatives will verify your entitlements and get back to

you within a day.

Once logged into the CSC you can navigate directly to Spirent Campus by

selecting the Training link in the top menu bar.

Spirent Campus content also indexed by the KB search engine and search

results for the materials can be filtered out by selecting the Training Content

Source Filter.

Once you select the Training link you will see that Spirent Campus currently offers training for the following products: iTest, Spirent TestCenter, Avalanche, Landslide, Spirent Studio, and Abacus. There is also the Green Belt Certificate for iTest, and, the Spirent Certified Performance Expert (SCPE) programs for Avalanche and Spirent TestCenter. As our products evolve, so does the Spirent Campus curriculum. Check back often to see what new content we have to offer.

The content is organized in Articles in the Training Channel of the KB . These Articles are either “Video Playlists”, “Essentials of” courses, “Continuing Education” courses, Certifications programs, or just the individual Topic content. You can narrow them down to a specific product using the Available Categories. Priority sorting, which is a function of the KB, ensures that the most relevant Articles always appear at the top.

In addition, you can use the KB’s functionality for subscribing to the overall Training Channel, a Product Category, a Course or Playlist Article, or even individual Topic Articles. That way when something is added or updated you will know right away. To subscribe to something, just select the Subscribe button from wherever you happen to be.

Playlist Articles link Topics that are related but don’t necessarily comprise a

course. Generally they are related because they are all applicable to a single

product or some aspect of a product. The lists include links to Videos covering

select product features. From any of the individual Topics you will see a Series

link near the top tying other related Topics together.

Speaking of Series links, and even Course links which you will see next, the idea

is that once you find any Training Topic, either by navigating to it using the

Training Channel, or using the KB search, it will link through a Series or a

Course to other related Topics, which in turn may even link to other related

Courses even across different products.

Course List Articles link Courses that are related. Generally they are related

because they are all applicable to a single product. In some cases these are

referred to as Continuing Education courses.

Continuing Education courses are more comprehensive and are recommended

to existing users who want to explore more features and details over an

extended period of time. These offer a mixture of content types such as

Reference Documents, Videos and Configuration Guides. Components of the

Continuing Education courses are updated regularly so check back often to see

what is new. Or better yet, subscribe to the relevant Course List Article, and you

will be automatically notified when something changes.

Course Articles link to individual Topics that comprise the Course. They also

have links back to the associated Series linking other related Courses. Find one,

and as I stated before, all you have to do is follow links to locate additional

content.

A specific type of Course, which is targeting new users, are the those in the

Essentials of Courses Series. The idea of these is to present just the right

amount and type of information to help a new user get started. Without exposing

you to too many of the details of the product which could be stifling at first.

Thanks to the KB’s priority sorting feature these are easy to find because they

will always appear at the top of the associated Training Channel Category.

Topic Articles are the actual training content. They are the individual Reference

Documents, Video Demonstrations (which are narrated screencams), Video

Presentations (which are narrated slideshows), and Configuration Simulations

(which are simulated hands-on). Of course like everything in the Training

Channel they have links back to other related Topic Articles either through Series

or Course links.
