We currently have 577 children enrolled from Kindergarten to Year 6, including those children in the Special Unit. Those students come to school from many different and varying home environments, ethnic backgrounds and life experiences, yet become a very cohesive and cooperative group at school. Welcome back to all for a busy and exciting Term 4!

Term 4 in all schools contains many traditional

activities and events that children and parents look

forward to with anticipation and excitement. Our highly

regarded Kindergarten Orientation Program for the

2014 intake of children gets into full swing as we

attempt to make the transition to ‘big school’ a lot less

traumatic for the new children and their families. The

second round of reports for all children will be prepared

and sent home later this term and will give parents an

understanding of their child’s abilities and progress at

this point in time. Towards the end of the term we have

our Presentation days where we recognise the

achievements of a great number of children, there’s the

Year 6 Farewell, party days and carols in the school

grounds. We will also be providing our special

‘Volunteers’ Morning Tea’ to recognise and thank all

of those who have managed to donate some time in

supporting the education of the children in any way.

We currently have 577 children enrolled from

Kindergarten to Year 6, including those children in the

Special Unit. Those students come to school from many

different and varying home environments, ethnic

backgrounds and life experiences, yet become a very

cohesive and cooperative group at school. Yes, we have

our issues, our ongoing struggles and some individual

mountains to climb, as is the norm with living in a

vibrant community, but it is a credit to the families of

our children and the dedication of all staff, teaching or

other, that the children behave and participate as they

do.

I look forward to observing the progress of all children

this term.

STUDENT BEHAVIOUR Towards the end of term 3 we noticed an increase in the

number of students who were required to attend the

Planning Room to discuss behaviour choices they

made. At EMPS we uphold the values of Respect,

Responsibility, Learning, Cooperation and

Participation.

We would like to remind you that students who choose

not to uphold our values may be excluded from extra

curricular activities such as excursions, discos and the

annual class party days.

If your child is at risk of being unable to attend, the

class teacher will contact you to inform you of this. If

you are requiring more information about your child's

behaviour at school, please do not hesitate to contact

their class teacher or the Planning Room co-ordinators

via the school office to make a time to visit or call.

Year 2 Swimming

Year 2 Swimming starts on Monday. Please make sure

you bring all necessary items: swimmers, towel,

sunscreen, rashie, plastic bag etc. Make sure these

items are labelled. Swimmers are not to be worn under

school uniforms as students will have time to change

before their lesson.

Homework Club Homework Club is open to Early Stage 1 and Stage 1

this term. Those students who expressed interest at the

beginning of the year should have received a note with

some information already.

Please remember to bring your homework each

Tuesday and come to the library straight after school

finishes. Homework Club finishes at 3:45pm, students

can be picked up from the library or from the gate in

front of the basketball courts.

Welcome back to Term 4, we hope lots of you had

some wonderful holiday reads. At the end of Term 3,

Early Stage 1 and Year 1 voted for their favourite Book

Week-Short-listed book for 2013. “Lightning Jack”

was a clear favourite with “The Terrible Suitcase”

following close behind. Look out for all these books

this term, as they will be available to borrow.

We also had some lucky winners at the last Thursday

assembly in Term 3. The following students were

drawn from a list of students who had finished their

Premiers Reading Challenge:

Year 3- Harry Hookway

Year 4- Claire Williams

Year 5- Caleb Fean

Year 6- Brooke Wicks

Well done to these students and all the students who

completed their Premiers Reading Challenge.
