Conclusion

• This assignment requires that you demonstrate a broad knowledge of the content and how it relates to children’s rights in the UK.

• Although you may structure your essay how you like, the first four sessions relate to ‘definitional’ contestations about (children’s) rights and social justice.

• The law content (session 5) will enable you to demonstrate your legal awareness of children’s rights being enshrined (or not!) in domestic law.

• The global content (session 6) will enable you to compare the success of the UK on children’s rights with other countries (i.e. Northern European; Southern European; The USA, former Soviet countries).

• Then the ‘3P’ sessions (7;8;9) will enable you to go into thematic detail as to how certain types of rights detailed in the Articles of the UNCRC 1989 are supposed to be asserted, and then using examples, analyse to what extent the UK realizes these.

• Note: You will necessarily have to be selective with your material.• To achieve this, you must give yourself enough time to edit your document, as the

weekly tasks and words might need ‘tweaking’ to ensure that your final essay discussion relates to the final essay question.

• Good luck!
