Clickety ClackKnit one purl one, knit one purl one

The band was almost doneThe soft sound of the needles clickety clack

Finish one row, turn around and go back

Finally, it was taking shape, like a bird making a home in its nest

we know whatever Edna madeit was sure to be one of the best

Wonderful gifts each stitch made with lovea creative gift that was so easy to see

A jumper for this one, some scarves for themor for a new baby a layette or three

A bonnet, a jacket and bootees tooWill they need to be made in blue or in pink?

Perhaps lemon is safe, she could do them there and thenInstead of having to guess or even to think

The knitting needles are now silentNot a sound more will they make

But what a wonderful lesson Edna has left usTo always give more than you take.
