Earth Day Network’s mission is to diversify, educate
and activate the environmental movement
worldwide.
Growing out of the first Earth Day, Earth Day
Network is the world’s largest recruiter to the
environmental movement, working with more than
75,000 partners in nearly 192 countries to build
environmental democracy.
More than 1 billion people now participate in
Earth Day activities each year, making it the
largest civic observance in the world. We work
through a combination of education, public policy,
and consumer campaigns.
Every year the Earth Day Network, as organizers of
the original Earth Day, selects an environmental
priority to engage the global public. The enormous
challenges – but also the vast opportunities – of
acting on climate change have distinguished
climate action as the most pressing topic for the
50th anniversary year as nations look to increase
the ambition of their climate action plans to meet
the goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate
change.
2020 has to be the year of enormous, ambitious
change that will take the promise of the positive
action underway and make it bigger and bolder
worldwide.
To mark the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, Earth
Day Network is launching a raft of initiatives to
provide individuals with new and impactful
ways to act, including:
- Vote Earth
- The Great Global Cleanup
- Earth Challenge 2020
- A Billion Acts of Green
