Editor’s ramblings….

Ah yes another Epiphany edition to add to the archives. Hopefully this is isn’t an issue that will be read and forgotten, thrown into the depths of the desk drawer and used as scrap paper in the future!!

I won’t say much but I’ll let the quotes do the talking as you reflect on the twelve different messages being presented. The 12 quotes, all of which except the last one, are Scriptural based.

Read it all then stick this issue up near your door, in front of your study desk, somewhere where you can look at it often. Take one quote per month, reflect and pray with it so that you may be filled with the grace and peace of God as He speaks to you through these passages.

Job 33: 31-33 “Now..listen to what I am saying; be quiet and let me speak. But if you have something to say, let me hear it; I would gladly admit you are in the right. But if not, be quiet and listen to me, and I will each you how to be wise.”

Fr. Michael’s reflection on 1 Peter 2:2-10The quote…reminds me of the simple truth that I can't save myself. It was done for me, it is a gift, it is an evidence of God's love for us. God, in Jesus, has done it all. All I can do is to respond to it by the way I live my life, treat others and acknowledge God's presence in all things. I can't buy my salvation. It has been handed over to me on a silver plate. What is useful though is to contemplate on it and be absorbed by it. The rest will happen naturally.

'You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a people set a part to sing the praises of God who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Once you were not a people at all, and now you are the people of God; once you were outside mercy

and now you have been given mercy'

2 Corinthians 1:4-5

“He helps us in all our troubles so that we are able to help others who have all kinds of troubles using the same help that we ourselves have received from God. Just as we have a share in Christ’s many sufferings so also through Christ we share in God’s great help”

Then Jesus said to the disciples, "And so I tell you not to worry about the food you need to stay alive or about the clothes you need for your body. Life is

Ecclesiasticus 2:4-6

“To reach out to another is to risk involvement. To expose your feelings is to risk rejection. To love is to risk not being loved in return.

But risks must be taken because the greatest risk of all

is to risk nothing.

The person, who risks nothing, does nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he cannot learn, he cannot feel,

he cannot grow, and he cannot love.”  Joanne Ong’s reflection on the quote:

This is about friendship and love, and why sometimes, even when we have been hurt badly for whatever reason, it is still worthwhile to try again, for the right reasons. In my opinion, getting hurt means that we can still feel, rather than live with the knowledge that we have not ‘lived’ our lives. Life is too short to hold on to our own pain. Carpe Diem!
