Storage Tip – Mice
Mice love to nest in stored vehicles. Here are few tips to keep problems from developing. Place Poison bait such as “D-Con” in the car or close to it. Mice will seek water after eating thus leaving the car before they perish. Place bounce fabric sheets under the hood, seats, dash, truck. Mice avoid these areas as the scent from the sheets disrupts their sense of smell. Plug the exhaust pipe with a tennis ball or other. Many an engine has been ruined by rodents building nests even as far in as the cylinder heads.
Ken & Linda Lammers Hello Everyone from Rapid City. Well I officially started my new job on Jan 1 2014. So far so good!! I got a real good group of people down here so they are making my transition pretty easy. We have been very busy the last couple of months trying to get the relocation details handled. We found the perfect house in Rapid City and we are hoping to get this deal closed the first week of February. We sold our house in Bismarck really quick. Our realtor told us that the average house in Bismarck takes 82 days to sell so we took his advice and put it on the market early. We sold it in 6 hours. Talk about a quick sell. Our original plans were to live in Bismarck until the end of May but now it looks like we will be moving the end of March as our house is closing on March 31. You just have to go with the flow and hope everything turns out. I am hoping to be down for our Annual Party on January 25 as long as the weather cooperates. I hope to see everyone at the party. Mike Conmy is taking over as President for the interim but under the circumstances we will be looking for someone to take over as President. If you are interested in taking over the gavel, please come to the party on January 25 so we can vote you in. It has been my pleasure to be your President over the last years. I hope that the clubs continues to grow by recruiting new members and continuing the traditions that we have.
This move is not easy but it is the right decision for me and my family’s future. Once I get re established in Rapid City I am going to consider starting a South Dakota Chapter of Mustangs and Fords of the Dakotas. First I have to see if I find some members that are as passionate with their cars as we are. Time will tell. Again thank you all for your support and help that you have provided to me and my family and I wish you all the best. If you are ever in Rapid City, give me a call. My new cell number is 605-939-8793. Sincerely, Ken Lammers

After 5 years and 2 floods, Patty & I hope to get the retractable on the road this summer. If things go well we will show it at Buggies & Blues, the IFRC Nationals in St. Louis, Car Craft Summer Nationals in St. Paul and Our MFD show.
Hey Steve! Did you take up golfing?
I received these pictures of a 1959 Ford Skyliner retractable hard top that was involved in an accident with an 18 wheeler in Tacoma Washington.
Crusher is the big winner at Lende Collection sale
Not that anyone was keeping score, but the crusher contracted to provide cleanup after the
sale defeated the preservationists at the Lende Collection Auction held Nov. 2 in Walum,
N.D. The sale, presented by VanDerBrink Auctions, offered 122 vehicles, including four
vintage tractors. Unfortunately, 66 of those, or 54 percent, received no offer greater than the
opening $325 crush bid and were relegated to be squashed.
After the sale, a visibly frustrated Yvette VanDerBrink, head of VanDerBrink Auctions,
speculated that much of the reluctance by bidders to make offers on the vehicles stemmed
from pre-sale rumors that the three Lende brothers were not in agreement on which brother
actually owned the vehicles being auctioned, and that sales might be invalidated due to this
family infighting. The three brothers’ collection involves a former salvage operation, and the
122 vehicles in the auction were only a small portion of this overall collection.
After the first 11 vehicles auctioned received no bids exceeding crush rate, VanDerBrink
temporarily halted the auction to assure the gathered bidders that she had secured a court
order mandating that all sales of the 122 vehicles would be legal and binding.
The top five sales reflected continued bidder reluctance, with a 1959 Chevrolet Impala
Nomad station wagon, in No. 4 condition being the top seller at $2,400. It was followed by a
’59 Chevy Bel Air four-door sedan at $1,150, ’57 Ford Country Sedan station wagon at
$1,050, ’63 Chevy C10 longbox pickup at $825 and ’64 Chevy Biscayne station wagon at
$600.
Two noteworthy bargains were both in No. 4 condition: a 1967 Chevy Chevelle 300 four-door
sedan, six-cylinder-powered, that sold for $330, and a ’61 Ford Fairlane four-door sedan, V-8
powered, that sold for $350.
Among noteworthy vehicles not receiving bids and sent to the crusher were a foursome of
1959 Plymouths: Fury, Belvedere and Savoy four-door sedans and a Plaza two-door sedan
— all loaded with donor-quality parts; a rust-free ’59 Studebaker Lark two-door sedan;
complete ’55 Nash Ambassador Super four-door sedan; complete ’58 Opel Rekord two-door
sedan; and a trio of ’66 Ford F-100 pickups, each also containing many donor-quality parts.
The auction also included the sale of a select number of parts, including prewar headlamps
and body panels and postwar hubcaps.
This solid, six-cylinder-powered 1967 Chevrolet
Chevelle 300 sedan was one of the many bargains
of the Lende Collection Auction held in Walum,
N.D., selling for $330.
One of four 1959 Plymouths offered at the Lende
Collection Auction in Walum, N.D., this Fury sedan
received no offers, nor did its three counterparts,
and all were relegated to the crusher.
