Dear business partners, A turbulent year is gradually coming to an end, and we have already been heavily involved planning the coming year.

Our team is concentrating fully on market challenges with the aim of creating intelligent solutions to reduce part costs to add value for our customers. Just like our report about deep bore drilling on the title page, where we combine two applications in a single tool concept by using two tools. Another good example is illustrated on page 3. Here, our engineers have integrated drilling, rotary milling and counter-sinking operations in a single tool. This enables our customers to achieve substantial cost savings on each part.

To find out just how well our strategy of being present on all significant global markets, is paying off, please read about the example of China on page 2. We have established a partnership based on mutual confidence with a company trading as Jiangsu IDEAL and this constitutes a textbook win-win situation for both companies.

Furthermore, we would also like to direct your attention to the 2016 annual trade show schedule, where we shall once again be exhibiting at trade shows such as AMB, IMTS and Simodec. Last but not least, the Schwanog Technology Days once again is the absolute highlight in the events calendar for next year.

Finally, also on behalf of all of our employees, I would like to wish you an enjoyable holiday season and good fortune, good health and success in 2016!

Yours truly, Clemens Güntert

Clever new concepts for deep bores:

Drilling and simultaneous chamfering of inner and outer chamfers using 2 tools!

Whenever technological processes have been exploited to the fullest extent, technical creativity and the courage to explore new avenues are called for. In the current example, it at first appeared that all improve-ment options with insertable tools had been exhaus-ted, but then our engineers came up with this brilliant new idea.

Due to design-related reasons, the length of our drill inserts is always limited. In applications with deeper bores, one option is to manufacture the tool using more than one insert.

That sounds logical, and indeed it is! You see, having two applications in a single tool concept saves tool costs and production time, depending on the application and can eliminate another tool change depending on the type of machine.

It is always required that the tool geometry falls into the technical parameters and the desired drilling depth.

The application illustrated here is a successful example of how it can be done:

Disk 1: ID Form drilling

Disk 2: Simultaneous chamfering of external and internal chamfers

Schwanog China convinces top customers in the medical market:

Jiangsu IDEAL commits to Schwanog thread-whirling solutions!

Markets in China continue to develop at a dynamic pace, and the high levels of investment in our own location are progressively starting to pay off.Gökay Dumlupinar strives tirelessly to lay the ground-work required to tap into the enormous potential customer base and to convince it of the cost and quality benefits of using Schwanog tooling systems.

One genuine success story is the collaboration with our customers Jiangsu IDEAL Medical Science & Technology Co. Ltd. that began back in 2011.

This company is an apparent specialized manufacturer of medical components and has its own R&D, manufac-turing and sales operations for Class III implant products. This includes implant plates, bone screws, stents and many other high-tech products.

Production takes place in a 380,000 square-foot manufacturing facility equipped with state-of-the-art machining centers from Germany, the USA and Japan. These assure full compliance with the most stringent of international standards. The in-house laboratory center extends over a surface area of 4,000 square-foot and enables the company to analyze all required parameters to an impressively high level.

A comprehensive set of certifications, such as ISO, FDA, CE and QM, underscore just how committed the company is to quality, and the customer occupies center stage in its philosophy. This clearly defined customer focus is comple-mented by values such as reliability, trust and quality.

Since 2011, Gökay Dumlupinar and his team have been able to triple the sales to Jiangsu IDEAL, delivering clear evidence that, in China too, investments in high-quality Schwanog tooling solutions make financial sense for both parties.

During a recent visit conducted by C. Güntert, other projects were also discussed with Ms. Li Wei, General Manager of Jiangsu IDEAL. These create a challenge to the core skills of Schwanog, but also open up completely new options for the Chinese market.

At this juncture, we would like to extend our particular thanks to Ms. Li Wei for providing us with information, and for the exceptional level of cooperation she has extended. We really look forward to continuing this successful partnership.

Why three, when one will do:

Drilling, rotary milling and countersinking with a single tool!

Today every single second counts if you seek to establish yourself on the market successfully on the basis of top quality as well as optimized production costs.

The best example is the application described next, in which the number of tools was reduced from three to one single tool.

The advantage is obvious as unproductive downtimes are eliminated due to saving time previously spent on tool changeovers.

PREVIOUS MANUFACTURING PROCESS WITHOUT SCHWANOG:

Step 1: Drilling

Step 2: Tool changeover to rotary milling

Step 3: Tool changeover to 4-point chamfering

NEW PRODUCTION PROCESS WITH SCHWANOG SPECIAL TOOL:

Step 1: Drilling, rotary milling and chamfering all in a single process!

ADVANTAGE WITH SCHWANOG WITH A BATCH SIZE OF 20,000 UNITS:

Savings due to eliminating two tool changeovers: Combined total of 8 seconds

Resulting in reduction of production time by over 44 hours!

Congratulations from the entire team:
