Yes, you should definitely bundle up to prevent frost bite when wind chill warnings are in effect. If you take prescription medication, make sure that you have enough on hand to last for a few days should you be snowed in. If you carry a cell phone for emergencies, make sure it is always charged.. Winter can be a lot of fun. Who doesn’t like going sledding or skating? But the downside of winter is wind

chill warnings and snow storms.

Winter safety is more than just bundling up against the elements. Yes, you should definitely bundle up to

prevent frost bite when wind chill warnings are in effect. But you also need to be prepared if a snowstorm

or blizzard were to shutdown the roads for a couple of days. This means making sure that the pantry is

stocked and the cupboards are full. If you take prescription medication, make sure that you have enough

on hand to last for a few days should you be snowed in. If you carry a cell phone for emergencies, make

sure it is always charged.. And when you do have to shovel snow, make sure that you don’t overdo it.

Stay warm and be safe!

“Supporting families in Manitoba to plan for an enriched

quality of life for their family member with an intellectual

disability.”

Continuity Care was established by parents, siblings and

community members wanting to help families in Manitoba

plan for a safer and more secure future for family

members with an intellectual disability. It offers a variety of resources such as workshops and a variety of

programs which make planning easier. Continuity Care provides valuable workshops on such topics as

Registered Disability Savings Plans. If you needed to know the role and responsibilities of a Trustee, there is

a workshop for that. You can also purchase “The Circle of Life” which is a book of activities for life

planning.

For further information you can check out www.continuitycare.ca or call 204-779-1679.

Special Olympics Manitoba is currently

selling a calendar which features many

athletes who just happen to work at

ImagineAbility. If you are interested in a

calendar, they are still available. Each calendar

costs $20 and your name will be entered in

to a draw each month for cash prizes. To get your calendar, you can talk to one of the

athletes like Leaha here at ImagineAbility or phone (204) 925-5628.
