Assistant Principal’s report

Tony Tree

It is good to be living in Ngukurr again. I have noticed a

lot of changes since I was last teaching here in 1997.

Most notable is the improvements to the oval.

I have been working in remote communities as a

teacher since 1997, including stints at Bickerton,

Numbulwar, Port Keats, Bulman, Nangmariyanga and

Peppimenarti.

It is good see the positive attitudes and willingness of

many students towards school. Arriving on time and

playing together and sharing space and equipment. It

is all about the learning to play together and being calm

in an active place.

School can be a happy and healthy place if we all listen

to our teachers and Assistant teachers and work

towards being a good student and in the future a good

person in the Ngukurr community. Coming to school is

an important step in becoming a good citizen and being

able to contribute to improving and reaching your goals

and aspirations.

It is good to be back

Tony

Our School Values

Meet the 3/4 Explorers! What a busy and exciting way to start a year! We are the 3/4 Explorers! We are

excellent learners who always try our best. We love coming to school because we

know every day will be a new learning adventure! This term we have learnt about our

health and safety doing experiments about germs, discussing how to stay healthy and

being safe in the community especially around crocodiles. We have learnt all about

persuasive writing, we were so persuasive with our opinions we convinced Shona we

deserved ice cream! We have also celebrated some special events including Chinese

New Year, Valentine’s Day, Leo’s Birthday and Pancake Day. So far it has been a

fantastic start to 2014, we look forward to seeing what comes next!
