Student Accounts
Last week we sent home your child’s student
account. We would like to remind our community of the
value of paying these Voluntary Contributions for our
school and programs.
The School Voluntary Contribution is $60.00 per child. Money collected will
be used to supplement classroom resources. Whilst contributions are
voluntary, the quality of our teaching and learning program will be maximised
when each family makes this contribution.
The P&C Levy is $50 per family and donated to the P&C Building Fund; being a
tax deduction. Last year our P&C Building fund contributed to some fantastic
projects throughout our school like the new LED Street Sign and remote
controlled stage curtains.
Many thanks once again to those families who have already paid these fees.
Easter Fair
Our first whole school event for 2017 is happening
on Thursday 6th April between 12:30pm and

school uniform on this day.
Families of all students at BPS are most welcome to come along.
Our Student Council plays a large role in the organisation of the annual Easter
Fair and they work very hard before and on the day to ensure that everything
runs smoothly (with the help of Ms Clarke and their teachers and admin staff
of course).
With this in mind, we remind the school community of much needed
donations for the Student Council Giant Raffle prizes. They have also
organised for “Fairy Floss” to be available on the day and a most welcome
lunch treat of a sausage sizzle.
In addition to the list of donated items asked for on the below list, we would
also be happy to receive other items for the Student Council Giant Raffle in
the way of:-

Festival Parade – City of Joondalup 1 April
Our Year 4 students have been very busy creating their lanterns for the'Twilight Lantern Parade' and they are looking fabulous! Thank you to all the parents from Yakin 1 & 2 who have come along to the Art Room to lend a helping hand. Parents are welcome to join the Year 4s in the Art Room in the next two weeks leading up to the parade.
The Festival is an open invitation to citizens of the Joondalup area and surrounding suburbs and is always a great family day or night out! The Festival commences Friday 31 March and concludes Sunday 2nd April at 8pm. The Parade is on Saturday night . A note has gone home with all our Year 4 students and a copy of that note is on the school website under Students/Excursions/Incursions/Camps. Art in School - We like to recycle!
Thank you to the students and families who have been collecting 2 litre plastic milk bottles. We now have the supply we need so please continue to recycle them at home.
We would now like your empty 2 litre ice cream containers please AND plastic containers that hold those dozen easter eggs!
We are still collecting newspapers, meat trays and cardboard rolls. Please drop them off at the Art Room before or after school.
Our Year 6 students will be creating ‘Shoe Sculptures’ next term. Each student needs to bring in an old shoe to use as the basis of their sculpture. It can be any style of shoe from a sports shoe to a stiletto heel. If any parents are planning a clean out of their shoe collections, we’d be grateful if you could send your unwanted shoes to the Art Room.
Remember to ‘like’ the Beaumaris Primary Visual Arts Facebook page. We still need around 30 ‘likes’ to reach our goal of 300 ‘likes’ before the end of the term. Thank you for helping us to achieve our goal!
Faction Sports Carnival – TERM 3
Our 2017 Faction Sports Carnival has now been scheduled for FRIDAY 18 AUGUST (Week 5, Term 3). This is
an all day event, held on the school oval, and parents and other relatives are most welcome to attend. Bring your

down to the school early and view 98five FM broadcasting LIVE. This network
will be here from 6am to 9am, providing FREE coffee to the adults. If you can’t get
here, then make a note to tune into this station!
Toy Trucks and Cars
Many thanks to those families who have recently donated pre-loved toy trucks and cars to our
Kindy groups. We still need more donations! So if you have any old toys of this nature
that are not being used anymore, we would love to receive your donation. You may drop
them off to the school office or Djidji-Djidi 1 or 2 in the Kindy area.
Garden cuttings etc
Our Kindy groups are also requesting donations of garden cuttings, seedlings or Gnomes. They are
wishing to enhance their nature playground area. Any donations of this kind, can be taken to Kindy
1 or 2 or dropped off at the school office.
SCHOOL LIBRARY - Our lovely Library Officers, Sue and Paula are in urgent need of parent helpers to assist
with new book covering, shelving and other ongoing tasks. If you have any spare time at all, maybe the last
hour of a school day (this would help with getting a parking spot), then please come in and have a chat to either
Sue or Paula about helping out. You might even get a cup of coffee! The library is closed on Wednesdays.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR - The Scholastic Book Fair, always a great event at school, is coming in Week 9
of Term 2. We would love to hear from any parents who would like to be involved in the organization of the fair
as the current parent organisor now has a full time job. The first meeting for this group will be on Friday 31
March at 1pm in the Library. Please pop in to see either Sue or Paula in the Library to find out more information
on this event and what is required for preparations.
SCHOOL CANTEEN
The school canteen is run independently from the school by Ms Danni Brogan. All enquiries about lunches etc, are
to be directed straight through to Danni on 0421 459 581. The canteen only operates on MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS
and FRIDAYS. Preferred method for ordering lunches and or recess is online at: www.ouronlinecanteen.com.au.

Library Bags – Waterproof Library Bags are now available from Uniform Concepts, the P&C Second Hand
Uniform Shop and the school Library. Cost $8.00.
School Discos - We are pleased to confirm that School discos will be back in Term 2! A big thank you to
Katrina Lord (mum to Imogen in Year 1) and Jayne Church (mum to Louis in Year 5), both working mums, who have
managed to find some time to organise these much loved events. We have also received a number of requests from
other parents to help the “new” Disco Queens, and we thank them also for coming forward.
If you feel that you can offer some of your time to help with discos or any other P&C activities then please contact the
P&C via [email protected] or pop into our shop to see Wendy or Kathryn. It is a fantastic opportunity to
get involved in your child's school and help raise some much needed funds for the school.
P&C Secretary Position – We would like to THANK Nicole Redman (mum to Blake Yr 4, Kaeden Yr 2 and
Jaxon in Kindy) who has stepped up and is assisting our current P&C Secretary, Paula Whitehead. We are confident
Nicole that you are the right person for this position and we hope you enjoy your involvement.
2nd hand uniform shop - The P&C needs volunteers to help with the P&C shop. We need at least
one person for an hour on Tuesday mornings and an hour on Wednesday mornings. The shop is an
important fundraiser for the school, and a great way for parents to source good second-hand uniforms for
their kids. Without addition volunteers we will need to look at whether the shop can continue in its current
form, which would be a great shame. Any help would be gratefully accepted.
P&C URGENTLY need a Travelsmart committee convenor
This committee is absolutely crucial for the school – as well as overseeing our ‘walk to school’ days, they also
ensure follow-up on the work last year for the Tarolinta Crossing guard and other safety issues. Please
considering volunteering or this committee may lapse. The P&C is full of very busy people (most working
full-time), and structured so it is very efficient, so this role would not require an enormous amount of time.
More volunteers for the FUNDRAISING committee
The P&C are so grateful to those who have stepped up to be part of the P&C fundraising committee. This
committee raises an incredible amount of money, all going directly to enhancing the experience of our kids
at Beaumaris. But many hands make light work, so we really need more of our terrific parents to join this
committee!
Parent Class Reps – Are you a parent in any of the following classes?
Yerdarup 1 – Mrsd Hepburn/Mrs Harper
Karda 2 – Mrs Roussel/Mrs Lawton
Nginyarn 3 – Mrs May
We need your help to be the “Parent Class Rep”. Contact Louise Wolhuter to find out more about
what this involves. 04103 650 869 or email her at: [email protected]
School Banking - Come to the Library between 8 and 8:30am on a Monday morning and see Alaa
about setting up an account for your children to participate in regular savings through the Commonwealth
Bank.
Please direct any enquiries relating to the any of the above to:-
Vicki Mason
……………………………………………………………………………………...P&C President
We realise that the school and the P&C seem to always be asking for your help and volunteers from
the school community, but it is this help that actually keeps the school running smoothly and
effectively. Even if the help is required for social or fundraising events…..it all counts!
The Important Home-School Relationship” by an unknown author
Parents can be Teachers Too!
I dreamed I stood in a studio,
And watched two sculptors there,
The clay they used was a young child’s mind
And they fashion it with care.
One was a teacher, the tools she used
Were books and music and art;
One was a parent with a guiding hand
And a gentle, loving heart.
Day after day the teacher toiled
With touch that was deft and sure,
While the parent labored by her side
And polished and smoothed it o’er.
And when at last their task was done,
They were proud of what they has wrought,
For the things they has moulded into the child
Could neither be sold nor bought.
And each agreed they would have failed
If they has worked alone,
For behind the parent stood the school,
And behind the teacher, the home.
PLEASE VOLUNTEER
YOUR TIME & TALENTS to our school!
It’s a great way to meet other Beaumaris PS families.
Kids love seeing their parents involved at school – and in
Primary School they still publicly enjoy having us around!
Participate in fundraisers, help out in the organization of
events, help out in the classrooms and Library.
Any help you offer, it always much appreciated by those asking
for it.
You feel more a part of the school community when you get
involved.
