Windows Movie MakerGood quality free video editing suites are hard to come by, and Windows Movie Maker remains one of the best tools around for editing, combining and refining your own videos so they're ready to share with the world.Windows Movie Maker is the most simple and intuitive tools for editing and combining video clips. Unlike many free video editors, it doesn't split your audio and video into different tracks that then have to be synchronized manually, and its timeline interface is incredibly easy to use.  However, the software is very basic and can’t

complete a lot of the functions I wish to be carrying out. Because it merges the audio layers I won’t be able to edit my music and audio so that might be a deal breaker. Also, its quality and rendering can be quite poor making videos look really home made and unprofessional.

Sony Vegas Pro 13 seems to be the last man standing when it comes to a amateurenthusiast level video editing. Its professional grade software with a multitude of plugins and helpful editing tools that could improve my trailer massively. Sony Vegas also offer a range of different layers for editing, like audio, video and images, this will heavily benefit me as I wish to include all three as well as pre-sets and overlays.

The usual price for this software would be around 540 pounds per unit , however, my uncle’s business sell this software and so I was given a free version. Without this Sony Vegas wouldn’t even be an option. Sony Vegas also has audio and music editing settings that will allow me to cut and fine tune my voice over, before rending it as an mp3 file which will then be inserted over the top of my edited video clips.

Another favourite feature of mine is the ‘fade’ tool that can fade clips in and out of darkness giving a time movement effect and adding mystery. I also really like the fact that you can simply reverse a clip to make it play backwards.

Adobe PremiereAdobe Premiere Pro is a timeline-based video editing app developed by Adobe Systems and published as part of the Adobe Creative Cloud licensing program. Premiere individually would cost around 400 pounds, but with the Creative Cloud app can be paid for in a monthly subscription of just 7 pounds. Despite this, there is also a 30 days free trail of the software which is the option I would have to opt for if I was to use this software as I have no budget to play with. However, I believe it would take longer than that to collect all of my shots and edit them together, as well as learn the software well enough to make a good teaser trailer.
