How we edited our Get Smart

Video!

Page 2: Editing

Whilst editing we added an opening title to our documentary, we used big bold letters and used white on top of a black background so that it stood out. However in our real documentary we will need to have something much more creative to help boost up our marks.

We used a variety of cut-aways of mobile phones. We had to import the pictures so that they were in our we had to drag them into the tool bar at the side so that we knew where they were. To make them over lap our interview we needed to drag them over , and place them above the interview so that it would come in at the time we wanted it to.

Here is a shot of the person we interviewed, We wanted her to be young as young people are more up to date with today's new technology. We have placed her in the right position and we asked her to look away from the camera so she wasn't making eye contact with the audience. Also we have to make it fit so we clicked on the arrow underneath fit so that it was in the right position.

This is a print screen of our timeline, below you can see that is shows the interview footage, cut-away’s and the music we have used. We has to move all of the footage around on the timeline to ensure that we had it all in the right places and so there we no blanks in-between.

To do this we had to first upload the video to our computer, the we opened our new project in Premier Pro. To get the most important parts of the footage, we used the brackets to show where we wanted the first clip to start and were we wanted it to end. i.e. We cut out all of the questions so we could only see the answers. Also for the music bed we had to download the track we wanted to use, and import it into the documentary. As a group we chose ‘Telephone’ by Lady Gaga and Beyonce, as it was appropriate to the theme of mobile phones. We found that this was to long to fit the whole documentary so we cut out the most relevant parts of the song again by using the brackets and placing them into the timeline.

Here in this shot, you can see that we have practiced using Graphics. To get the text up we had to use control and T and then it comes up in the screen you type the text that you want to be seen, and then drag it over and place it above the video clip, so that it can be seen, as well as the moving footage. We thought that by having a large font, in the colour white would make our wording standout more, especially on a black background.
