1st Annual Salsa Tasting Contest ✓ Have you donated to the Education Foundation yet?
✓ Are you planning to attend the “Thank You” Salsa Night on
Friday, December 1st from 5:30pm – 8:00pm?
✓ Do you have a favorite salsa recipe you’d like to make and
enter in the Salsa Contest?
▪ If you answered “yes” to all of the above, please bring your favorite salsa
recipe already made and enough to share with 20 people by 6:30pm to
enter into the contest.
▪ Salsa will be judged based on taste, appearance and overall impression.
▪ There will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
When: Friday, December 1, 2017

GREEN PRIZE THE FILMJoin us for a celebration of the Green Prize for Sustainable Literature with a free screening of Rancher, Farmer, Fisherman, a documentary based on Miriam Horn's book of the same name. A panel discussion follows the film: - Moderator: Laura Avery, City of Santa Monica Farmers Market Supervisor; Monica Farmers Market Supervisor; - Sarah Rathbone, co-founder of Dock to Dish; - Meredith Bell, a rancher from Autonomy Farm in Bakersfield.
Established in 2007 by the Santa Monica Public Library and Santa Monica's Office of Sustainability and the Environment, the Green Prize Awards were created to recognize authors, illustrators, photographers, and publishers who produce quality books that make produce quality books that make significant contributions to, support the ideas of, and broaden public awareness of sustainability. To date, the Green Prize has been awarded to over one hundred titles.
Rancher, Farmer, Fisherman tells the inspiring story of heartland conservation heroes who are feeding the world while stewarding the land and water. Based on a book by best-selling author Miriam Horn, of the Environmental Defense Fund, the film is directed by Oscar-nominated Susan is directed by Oscar-nominated Susan Froemke and Oscar-nominated, Emmy winner John Hoffman and narrated by award-winning journalist Tom Brokaw. Film runtime: 103 min.
