OLD TOWN NEW TOWN LEITH

This district is in the north of Edinburg, in the mouth of the river Water of Leith. This river is 35 kilometers long. There is a promenade by the river. It is 15 kilometers long. There are 80 species of birds. There are people who ride on horses along this promenade.

THE OLD TOWN

• The old town of Edinburgh is in a castle. It is the most important site to visit.

The type of the houses is characteristic of Europe. It is vey scenic. The Royal Mile is the principal

avenue in the old town. It is 1800 meters long. There are four districts: Castlehill, Lawnmarket, High Street and Canongate.

THE NEW TOWN

In the part of the new town called the Mound, there is the National Gallery of Scotland. In this neoclassical building there are paintings and sculptures very famous, like paintings by Paul Gauguin and Cézanne.

Monument to Walter Scott

This gothic monument is in the Princess Street Garden. It was built in honor of Sir Walter Scott.

Princess Street Garden

The Princess Street Garden is a public park situated in the middle of Edinburgh. It is near the castle of the city. It was created in 1820.

The Castle of Edinburgh

It is on a volcanic rock in the centre of the city. It has been used militarily from the 12th century. It is the most important tourist attraction in Edinburgh.

Loch Ness

It is obligatory to visit the Loch Ness if you are in Edinburgh, because 250 km of distance. This lake is glacial.
