1 THE DELINS MESSAGE

1.1 INTRODUCTION

This document provides the definition of a Delivery Instruction Message, based on the ODETTE DELINS V3, to be used in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) between a VALEO Operating Company and its Trading Partners. This documentation is intended to be fully comprehensive and allows the implementation of the ODETTE DELINS without the necessity for any additional standard related documentation.

1.2 STATUS

MESSAGE TYPE : DELINS REFERENCE DIRECTORY : V3 VALEO SUBSET VERSION : 01

1.3 DEFINITION

The DELINS message (DELIVERY INSTRUCTION) is the way to express forward-looking needs concerning all supplying modes : “consumption renewal” or “anticipated consumption”. In addition, it may be used to express firm deliveries orders in the case of “anticipated consumption” supplying mode. In the case of “consumption renewal”, shipping instructions will be provided in an additional call-off message.

1.4 PRINCIPLES

The main message running rules are the following: “Anticipated Consumption”: the sending schedule is always of “supersede” type on each article/order line level. It means that all the previous quantities/dates of the articles/orders concerned by the schedule are superseded and replaced by the quantities/dates stated in the schedule. “Consumption Renewal”: the sending schedule is always of “supersede” type on each article/order line level. Quantities/dates expressed in the DEL segment of the Delivery Instruction are the actual quantities to be delivered. The backorder quantities are expressed in the DST segment, data element 6806. The quantities will always be positive. The over quantities accepted by VALEO and known at the calculation date are offset during calculation against the first specified scheduled deliveries in consecutive order. These quantities/dates here above mentioned are based on the sum of receipt and/or on the last delivery note received at VALEO.

For parts supplied as “Anticipated Consumption”, DELINS is used as:

- Delivery Order (DEL 6811=1), - Forecast (DEL 6811=4).

For parts supplied as “Consumption Renewal”, DELINS contains only Forecast and DEL 6811 data will only contain the value 4.

UNB - M 1 - INTERCHANGE HEADER This segment is used to start, identify and specify an interchange. UNH - M 1 - MESSAGE HEADER This segment is used to head, identify and specify a message. MID - M 1 - Message Identification This segment is used to give the reference number of the document and the date of its generation. SDT - M 1 - Seller Details To give details of the seller such as coded or uncoded name and address, contacts… BDT - M 1 - Buyer Details To give details of the buyer such as coded or uncoded name and address, contacts… CSG - M 999 – Consignee Details To give details of the consignee such as coded or uncoded name and address, contacts and to provide delivery location details. ARD - M 999 – Article Details To identify an article. PDI - C 1 – Previous Delivery Instruction To reference to the previous delivery instruction number in which the last schedule number for this article was transmitted. SAD - C 1 – Supplementary Article Details To provide additional information regarding the article identified in the preceding ARD segment. It is used to indicate if the new instruction replaces or amends the previous ones or whether it is used as a call-off request. DST - C 1 – Delivery Status To allow reconciliation of data necessary for the buyer and seller to have a common understanding of the quantities scheduled/received for the article referred in the ARD segment. PDN - C 999 – Previous Dispatch Notes To reference dispatch note references received and processed by the consignee for the article referenced in the ARD segment. DEL - M 999 – Delivery Details To specify the quantities required with associated dates and times and, if not made in SID segment, the level of commitment. UNT - M 1 - MESSAGE TRAILER This segment is a mandatory UN/ODETTE segment. It must always be the last segment in the message.

5 SEGMENTS LAYOUT

This section describes each segment used in the VALEO Needs Expression message. The original ODETTE segment layout is listed. The appropriate comments relevant to the VALEO subset are indicated. Notes: 1. The segments are presented in the sequence in which they appear in the message.

The segment or segment group tag is followed by the (M)andatory / (C)onditional indicator, the maximum number of occurrences and the segment description. The conditional indicator may be completed by a (R)equired when the segment is intended to be systematically used by VALEO for its business or transmission needs.

2. Reading from left to right, in column one, the data element tags and descriptions are

shown, followed by in the second column the ODETTE status (M or C), the field format, and the picture of the data elements. These first pieces of information constitute the original ODETTE segment layout.

Following the ODETTE information, VALEO specific information is provided in the

third and fourth columns. In the third column a status indicator for the use of (C)onditional ODETTE data elements (see 2.1 through 2.3 below), and in the fourth column notes and code values used for specific data elements in the message.

2.1 (M)andatory data elements in ODETTE segments retain their status in

VALEO.

2.2 Additionally, there are two types of status for data elements with a (C)onditional ODETTE status, whether for simple, component or composite data elements. These are listed below and can be identified when relevant by the following abbreviations:

- REQUIRED (R) : Indicates that the entity is required and must be sent. - NOT USED (N) : Indicates that the entity is not used and should be

omitted.

2.3 If a composite is flagged as N, NOT USED, all data elements within that composite will have blank status indicators assigned to them.
