Hello Edgewood community and friends. Can you believe we are nearing the end of the first semester?
This school year has gotten off to a wonderful start, despite the near miss of Dorian! Our seniors are
working hard on their senior project papers, and the all-school Musical, Bye Bye Birdie, was a hit
within the community. Mr. Waterman’s theatre students as well as Mr. Franco’s orchestra students put
on quite the performance. This year’s performance included 95 students and was directed by an
Edgewood Senior, Carolina Mangru. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the “Tech”
parents for all their hard work and expertise with building sets and their work behind the curtains.
Additionally, we are so proud of our athletic teams! Our Middle School Girls Basketball team had a
historic run to the playoffs where they lost a hard-fought game to Jackson Middle school. Edgewood’s
Boys golf team repeated as Cape Coast Conference champions! Our volleyball, swimming and dive,
bowling, and cross-country programs all had outstanding seasons in their respective sports. Hats off to
Coach Nate Johnson for being named Cape Coast Conference Coach of the year for golf. Please make
sure you follow us on Twitter @Edge_Athletics, and Instagram at Edgewood_ath. We are now
transitioning to high school soccer and basketball seasons. Here’s to having great seasons on the field
and the hardwood!
I am also pleased to announce that Mrs. Eryn Worcester is our Teacher of the Year, and Mrs. Sarah
Roessler is our School Employee of the Year. These two employees are very deserving as they go
above and beyond for our students each day. They are both in running at the district level for Brevard’s
District Teacher and Employee of the Year.
At this time the choice application window is open, and new students as well as siblings not yet
attending Edgewood may apply for admission. The deadline of December 2, 2019 is a hard deadline.
The waitlist application window will open in the Spring of 2020. Please continue to read the Monday
Report for important information, such as changes, important dates, and other pertinent information.
On a final note, please remember to document your volunteer and community service hours; we want
to make sure our students are eligible to receive Bright Futures Scholarship. Remember, all students
are required to complete 25 hours each school year and families are expected to volunteer a minimum
of 20 hours per family. Feel free to contact Ms. Kimmey in Guidance regarding service learning
opportunities and check out our website at https://www.brevardschools.org/EdgewoodJRSR for any
forms you may need.

School of Choice Info Meetings
We are currently in the process of holding our
informational meetings for new and interested
parents and students. If you know of someone
please pass the information along so that no one
gets left out. PLEASE remember, if you have a
sibling that is planning on attending next year
YOU MUST go through the application process.
▪ Qualified siblings of students currently
attending Edgewood will be offered admission
without going through the lottery process
provided their applications are received and
accepted prior to the published deadline and
space is available for the appropriate grade
level.
▪ New applications or renewals are all online:
www.EIC.brevardschools.org ▪ The sibling currently attending Edgewood must
attend EJSHS next school year.
▪ Sibling applications received after the
application deadline will receive no preference
for admission. Those applications will be
treated the same as any other late applicants.
▪ Parent meetings are scheduled for Tuesday,
Nov. 12th and Thursday, Nov. 14th, 6:00 p.m.
in the cafeteria.
▪ The school tour will immediately follow the
informational meeting.
▪ Deadline for new and sibling applications is
Monday, Dec. 2nd! The lottery will be held
Dec. 16th.
SOC SIBLING APPLICATIONS
Please take notice of the article on the left
concerning siblings and their applications
for next school year. ALSO, in February
we will be sending home the registration
packet for next school year.
Siblings, who meet all requirements for
admission, and have a brother or sister
presently attending the school of choice and
will be attending Edgewood the year the
sibling begins, will be given preference in
the lottery. If the current student withdraws
to attend his/her home school or another
Brevard Public School, before attending the
fall semester, the entering sibling would
lose his/her seat and be withdrawn to return
to his/her home school.
If you are unable to make the commitment
for your current student to remain at
Edgewood, the sibling preference will be
removed and your entering student will be
entered into the lottery drawing.
SGA & BETA are going to combine help and work with Emily Corack on her senior project. Edgewood will be hosting the first ever Speech and Debate tournament. SGA & BETA members will be pages for the day helping with this huge task that Emily has taken on! They will be here from 8 – 5 on Nov 16 serving others.
BETA has been busy getting organized for this year. They have a meeting on Tuesday, Nov 5th to discuss their next service project. They will be helping a senior who is doing an angel tree for foster children. BETA loves to spread the cheer to others during the holiday season because they learn by serving others.

Money to Teachers/Sponsors
Parents are often trying to help their student by
dropping money off that is needed for various
school activities (field trips, purchasing class T-
shirts, class fees, dance tickets, etc.) The student
needs to turn these in directly to the teacher or
sponsor, as they are responsible for the activity.
Media Center Bookfair
The Media Center will be hosting a
bookfair Dec 9-13. Come and do some
holiday shopping, get some great books,
and support the media center! Volunteers
are needed to help run the register, please

Driver Ed Information
The sign-up for spring 2020 (2nd semester)
classes will begin on Monday, December 16,
2019 in the Front Office.
When students sign up, they will need:
• $80 – cash or check made out to
Edgewood Jr/Sr High School
• Permit or the knowledge that the
student will have to already have their
permit on the 1st day of class
Class begins on the 1st day of 2nd semester
Class time is 7:15 am – 8:00 am each day
Class meets in Portable 5
The student will receive a ½ elective credit
If the instructor feels that your student is an
able driver at the end of the semester, he will
award your student with a waiver for their
driver’s license. If he feels they need more
time driving, he can elect to not give your
student a waiver and then they will have to
take the driving portion of their test at the
DMV. Whether or not a student receives a
waiver, his grade will not be affected.
The students will have 30 hours of classroom
instruction and 6 hours of range driving. The
students will be responsible for keeping a
driving log – recording each time they drive
while not in class.
Student will be expected to be in class each
day. If, for some reason, they do not attend
class in the morning but come to school for the
rest of the day, they will need to sign in at the
Attendance Office.
Detentions will be given for being tardy to
class. We have a limited time for class and
must, therefore, use every minute available.
Student will need to bring their Learner’s
Permit with them each day to class.

WE ARE GOING TO
Germany, Austria and Switzerland
*This is not affiliated with EW*
EF Tours is hosting a trip to Germany, Austria, &
Switzerland Spring Break 2021. On this tour,
students will experience new cultures and visit
important landmarks, such as a guided tour of the
Opera House in Austria as well as the eclectic
architecture of the Ringstrasse, Parliament and
Hofburg. We will walk the cobblestone streets in
Salzburg. We will also visit one of history’s
darkest chapters at the concentration camp in
Dachau. Then we will be off to the Alps where we
have added a trip to the top of Mount Pilatus and a
Swiss fondue dinner. In Germany we will visit
Heidelberg, Frankfort, Rhineland, Cologne and
Bonn. While in Heidelberg, we will take a railway
up to Heidelberg Castle.
There are a limited number of spots available and
the tour is sure to fill up quickly. This is a “once-
in-a-lifetime” experience! This is not a Brevard
Public Schools Trip; the tour is operated by EF
Educational Tours. More information is available

In Bowling News
The boys and girls bowling teams competed in the Cape Coast Conference Tournament on 10-21 at
Bowlero Lanes in Melbourne. Battling through adverse conditions, no a/c in the building, the boys
placed 3rd and the girls placed 8th in the North District! Congratulations to Michael Harmon Jr. for
placing 1st individually, 100 pins ahead of 2nd place! For only the 2nd time in program history a
Lady Indian placed in the top 10 individually, Congrats to Ayla Hodge for her 8th place finish! The
teams also competed in the North District Tournament on 10-28 at River Lanes in Titusville. The
boys finished 5th overall with Michael Harmon Jr. placing 9th in individual standings. The Lady
Indians placed 7th overall.
We had a great season, and we are sad it has come to an end! Great bowling teams! Keep bowling
and practicing so we can Eat Lightning and Roll Thunder next season!!!
Coach Mike and I would like to thank all the parents for their support of our teams!
