Distance Education in a Modern Society Erling Ljoså

Czechoslovak National Conference on Distance Education, Prague, 30 May, 1991

There are several roles distance education should fill in a modern education system:

1. Balance inequalities between age groups2. Offer "second chance" up grading3. Deal with information and education campaigns for large audiences4. Speedy and efficient training of key target groups5. Education for otherwise neglected target groups6. Expand the capacity for education in new areas7. Extend geographical access to education8. Offer the combination of education with work and family life9. Develop multiple competencies10. Offer trans national programmeshttp://nettskolen.nki.no/forskning/16/ljosaa2.htm
