Part Modeler
A number of enhancements have been introduced to improve the user experience of Part Modeler.
Moving Faces
We have introduced a Move Faceprocedure to help the user modify a thirdparty model and prepare it formanufacture. This new function will allowthe user to:
Move the position of "dumb"
features, for example, pockets andbosses, around the model. Theycan either be moved from theoriginal CAD datum position orrelative to a user defined positionusing Translation and Rotation .
Modify areas of features, forexample, pocket walls and bossheights, on a third party model.Individual faces can be movedusing Translation and Rotation in
X, Y or Z or a combination of these. These enhancements will greatly improvepreparation for manufacture whenworking with third party models.

3D Mirror
The 3D Mirror procedure within PartModeler has been improved and nowallows two previously unavailable options,Copy and Move , to be used. The followingprocedures are now available:
Copy Copies the entities and keeps theoriginal entities.Note: All associated features suchas thread data and surface finishwill be copied. However, if theoriginal entities are edited, thecopied (mirrored) entities will not
be updated. Reference Copies the entities and keeps theoriginal entities.Note: If the original entities areedited, the copied (mirrored)entities will be updated. However, any associated features such asthread data and surface finish willnot be transferred.
Move
Moves the entities about a definedmirror plane.
Offset Faces
It is now possible to use a window selection to selectmultiple faces when using the Offset Face procedure withinPart Modeler. This new function will:
Allow multiple faces of a feature to be selected easilyto allow offsetting of the "dumb" feature.
Allow faces that are fully within a window selectionto be selected ( Left to Right window selection).
Allow faces that are partially within the windowselection to be selected ( Right to Left windowselection).

User Guide
Rationalise - Merge Identical Roughing and Profiling cyclesTypically, when milling cycles are applied to features, they are applied feature by feature using thePlanning Board.
This can lead to multiple identical cycles in the sequence browser with, for example, one cycle for eachpocket.
Rationalise can now merge these cycles into one cycle, as is already done for hole cycles.
When merge milling cycles is checked in the Rationalise dialog, cycles that are machined by the sameTool on the same CPL and whose dialog settings are identical are merged.
The benefit of merging the cycles not only makes the machining sequence shorter and easier to managebut the merged cycles inherit the toolpath ordering of the cycle.
Initially, this has been implemented for the Roughing and Profiling cycles.
SolidLink 64-bitSolidLink, the application that loads all CAD models into Edgecam and Part Modeler, has been improved:
SolidLink is now available as a 64-bit in addition to the 32-bit version. The 64-bit version canhandle larger files.
The Edgecam and Part Modeler installers will automatically select the correct version for theOperating System.

Holder Origin Options
New Holder Origin possibilities make it easyto position the Tool Holder graphic.
Previously, the Holder Origin, the referenceposition for setting the Holder Graphic offsetswas the Insert Centre.
If you attached a Holder Graphic to a Turningtool and specified zero Holder Offsets, theHolder Graphic origin would be placed at theInsert Centre. You would then have tocalculate the Holder Offsets to position theholder origin back to the Gauge Datum.
A calculator on the dialog calculated thedistance required to move the Holder Originback to the Gauge Datum, taking into accountthe distance from the Insert Centre to theInsert Tip.
A Holder Origin option has been added tothe Tool Mounting Parameters which can beset to either the Insert Centre , Tool Tip orGauge Datum .
Mill Cycles - Select Boundary Edges Direct from Solid
The Milling cycles have been updated toallow boundaries to be selected directlyfrom Solid Edges or EdgeLoops without theneed to create geometry edges orEdgeLoops first.
If the edges are not parallel to the currentCPL, they are automatically projected intothe CPL to form a 2D boundary.

Interactive Picking
The Mill cycle dialogs have been updated toinclude buttons for selecting datainteractively.
The top of the dialog now has a series ofpictures indicating what data is required:
As the data is picked, theappropriate button is ticked.
Some picking is only required when aparticular option has been selected, for example, Start Points or StockProfile. The button will be greyed outuntil that option is enabled.
If any buttons are left without dataafter the OK button has been clicked,a prompt will be displayed.
User-defined Groups within Instruction Browser
Custom groups of instructions can now becreated in the sequence browser tomatch, for example, Roughing andFinishing processes

Wire Profile Feature
A new Wire Profile Feature command has beenadded to find features suitable for Wire Erosionfrom a solid. This facility removes the need to
extract the edges from the solid to make thewireframe fences.
The following points should be noted:
If the feature cannot be created at thedefault Tolerance , reduce the tolerance to0.05 mm.
Features consist of faces suitable for Wireerosion which must be straight and throughi.e. ruled surfaces. There can be nocurvature on the faces because the wire
cannot be bent. The selected faces canhave differing levels and heights; they donot need to be on parallel planes.
Intersecting edges must be straight towithin a Tolerance , otherwise the resultantfeature will be open or several openfeatures may be created.
It is possible to control the XY and UVProfile Height of the feature.
The identified features appear in thefeature list and have their own list of
properties. The feature sub type will beidentified as Pocket, Boss or Open.
Note: For best machining results, the featuresneeds to be closed, i.e. Pocket or Boss.

New 'Full Associativity Link' Option
For Edgecam 2013 R2, a new FullAssociativity Link Preferences option isavailable.
Previously, when an associative tool(tools that have the 'Associative' optionchecked in the toolchange dialog) wasloaded directly from the Toolstore, theToolkit and Mount modifiers could notbe edited.
Full Associativity Link is unchecked, bydefault, allowing the mount modifiersto be amended when the tool is not ina toolkit.
For full associativity with the toolrecord, check the Full AssociativityLink option.
New 'Display turn tool clearance' Option
A Display turn tool clearance optionhas been added to the Tool LibrariesPreferences.
This option is used to display a ghostedimage of the insert shape which will beused to generate the turn cycle offsetincluding tool clearance angles.

A new Enable Docking ForCycle Dialogs option hasbeen added to the Title barof each dialog. This newoption enables the Dialogwindows for cycles to bedocked at the left or rightside of the viewing area and, optionally, hidden to keepthe viewing areauncluttered.
File Location Management
We have improved the management offile locations within Edgecam.
Edgecam now remembers the filelocation for each file type that hasbeen previously opened or saved. For
example, if a PCI file was previouslyloaded from a folder named'PCI Examples', that folder will beopened when a PCI file is next loaded.
This enhancement will benefit usersbecause they will now be directed tothe folders which they have visitedbefore for similar file types.

Protect Solid
A new Protect Solid parameter has been added to the Controltab.
When machining Face features, the cycle is not aware of thewhole solid and will machine only the given feature resulting inthe tool going into the part. Protect Solid makes the cycle awareof the solid model and prevents gouges when trimming out thetoolpath.
This should avoid the need for boundary creation in severalparts and improve confidence when applying toolpath.
Decimal SeparatorEdgecam and ToolStore have been improved to support the use of comma as a decimal separator.
If the Operating System is set to use comma as a decimal separator, Edgecam and ToolStore will nowinterpret the comma as a decimal separator. In Edgecam, a dot (point) can still be used because it will berecognised and converted to the system decimal separator as soon as the dialog is closed.
Note: A comma cannot be used when the Operating System is set to use dot (point) as a decimalseparator because Edgecam was conceptually created to use dot (point) as the only decimal separator.
Limitations:
Only supported in Edgecam and ToolStore. Edgecam will allow the use of both comma and dot (point) when the Operating System is set to
use comma as a decimal separator. However, ToolStore will only allow the use of comma. The Advanced 5 Axis cycle does not currently support the use of comma. Code Wizard does not support the use of comma as a decimal separator; for example, on
machine parameters. When comma is the decimal separator, a 'space' is interpreted as a partial confirmation of co-
ordinate inputs.

Simulator
Data Transfer Speed ImprovementsIn previous releases, each time Simulator was started, Edgecam had to send the entire toolpath fromstart to finish together with all model data. This happened when the Simulator was started or when anUpdate Stock instruction was specified and created a speed restriction when simulating large parts. Inaddition, simulation always started from the beginning of the sequence and it could take some time toreach the point from which you actually wanted to start the simulation.
Simulator now runs as a separate process providing the following benefits:
Simulator starts instantly on second start up; a major benefit when simulating large parts. Simulator starts from where the simulation last finished; no need to run simulation from the start
each time. Update Stock is up to 50% quicker than the previous release.
Program Stop
Simulator has been enhanced in version 2013R2 and now recognises a Program Stop StopOption.

The new functionality should be used forlarge, complex parts which Rapid Resultcould not previously process since it does notsupport multi-axis.
Note:
1. This functionality is not intended forprismatic parts.
2. This option allows Rapid Result formulti-axis parts and is not meant to beused for Simulation. Therefore, the
Start ( ) button in Simulation isdisabled when this option is checked.
3. Applicable to Milling only.

Previously, for Turning tools, the HolderOrigin, the reference position for settingthe Holder Graphic offsets was the InsertCentre and, for Milling and Hole tools, itwas the Flute Height.
If you attached a Holder Graphic to aTurning tool and specified zero HolderOffsets, the Holder Graphic origin wouldbe placed at the Insert Centre or Fluteheight for Milling and Hole tools. Youwould then have to calculate the Holder
Offsets to position the holder origin backto the Gauge Datum.
For Turning tools, a calculator on thedialog calculated the distance required tomove the Holder Origin back to the GaugeDatum, taking into account the distancefrom the Insert Centre to the Insert Tip.
A Holder Origin option has been addedto the Tool Mounting Parameters whichcan be set to either the Insert Centre
(Turning tools) or Flute Height (Millingand Hole tools), Tool Tip or GaugeDatum .

New Rough Profile Cycle
This is a new cycle that replaces the Rough Profile cycle.
It is available with all Turning and Production Licenses.
The Rough Profiling cycle removes material in a series of cutsparallel to the input profile and is typically used for roughingfree form profiles from free form stock billets. It is also usefulfor cutting materials where it is beneficial to minimise re-entrant cutting as it keeps the tool in contact with the materialfor longer.
Benefits of the new cycle include:
Cycle is optionally stock aware to eliminate aircuts and reduce cycle time.
Intelligent stock entry and exit.
Support for controller tool offset i.e. G41/G42.
Possibility to enter a constant cut depth ordifferent cut depths for X and Z.
Specify ZX or Constant Offset finishingallowance.
Possibility to enter different offsets for each faceelement.
Option to stop after a specified no. of cuts, return to a safe swarf clearance position, stopthe machine, clear the swarf then carry on.
The old Rough Profile cycle has been removed from the default
user interface but can be retrieved using Customise ->Commands -> Turn Cycles .
Roughing - Waveform Improvements
Roughing Waveform has been improved:
The Waveform strategy now has the ability toset the Approach Type; Helix and Pre-drill arepossible. It works in the same way as the otherstrategies. A 10% bigger drill tool is expectedfor the pre-drill option.
Waveform pattern has been improved to avoid
unnecessary cutting interruptions whenopening the initial 'virtual pocket'. Thetransition between this area and actualtoolpath is much smoother.
Percentage Plunge Feed added to Approach Options
The Plunge feedrate for approach moves can now be specifiedas a percentage of the Plunge feedrate on the General tab. Thisoption is available for all Roughing strategy types.

Clean Up Final Pass added to Control Options
Some machines tools, due to the "Look Ahead" calculation andthe high feeds, may leave pegs in the material showingunmachined areas. These pegs would be removed if the feedswere reduced, meaning that the toolpath is correct but, due to
the "Look Ahead" calculation, the machine tool is avoidingthose areas. Clean Up Final Pass has been added to the Controloptions which will add a pass at the end of the area to ensurethat all material has been removed.
Moving the Sub-spindle - Option to Return Home without thepart
The sub spindle can be docked to support the part for amachining process after which it may be sent back to its homeposition without the part. Previously, the stock was alwaysreturned home with the sub spindle - this is now optional.
There is an additional code constructor:
Sub Spindle Retract Empty. This is used toformat the NC code for the Return HomeWithout Part option.
Note
If the With Part option is selected, the sub spindle should bedocked at its final grip position prior to
returning home with the part. If it is not, a message is issuedrequesting you do this
Turning Tool dialog - Machining of Internal Holes & Reverse
Radial ToolsMachining of internal rotary holes has been improved toprovide better access and handle situations which werepreviously not possible. Two situations are being improved:
Correctly handle internal holes when using aRadial tool.
Typical work for very large parts where thewhole turret can sometimes go inside thecomponent to do machining
Load a Reverse Radial tool. which on an Indextype turret will allow for two situations (drivenby machine parameter).
Either load the tool at the front of the turret(with special holder / mounting mechanism) orload the tool at the back of the turret.

Five Axis Milling dialog - Direct Picking on Model
Previously, the Five Axis cycle had to use geometry createdfrom the solid, for example, Edge Loops and Face Features. Thecycle can now pick edges and faces directly from the modelwithout having to create Edge Loops or Face Features.
Improved Collision Avoidance (3 to 5-Axis and Five AxisCycles)
In Edgecam 2013 R1, a new Remove Remaining Collisions option has been introduced. This option, when checked, willremove any collisions remaining after the main checks havebeen completed by retracting the tool away from the surface.
New Advanced Five Axis Options
In Edgecam 2013 R1, new Chaining Tolerance and Slow andSafe Path Creation options have been introduced on theGeneral tab:
Chaining Tolerance is an internal value, greaterthan zero, used for the toolpath generation. TheChaining Tolerance might have an effect for aflat or slightly curved face where, since less toolpath points are generated, the toolpath has lessinformation. In this situation the chainingtolerance makes the toolpath accurate. However, if a smaller tolerance is selected, morecomputing time is required.
When Slow and Safe Path Creation is checked, the Chaining Tolerance will be set to an intervalnot longer than the maximum stepover distance. As with the Chaining Tolerance, activating thisparameter requires more computing time.
5 axis cycle - separate process and 64-bit support
In Edgecam 2013 R1, a 5 Axis cycle will always be moved into aseparate process, regardless of whether Set Safe Start Point(SSSP) has been set.
A 64-bit version of the application has also been created(EdgeSrv5Axis64.exe).
This will improve situations where the cycle previously ran outof memory during calculation.

Profiling - Break Corner options for Profiling Cycle
The Profiling cycle has been updated to include options tobreak sharp corners with either a radius or chamfer. This willreduce secondary de-burring operations.
Set Safe Start Point for Mill/Turn (Background processing)
Set Safe Start Position is now available in the Mill/Turnenvironment. Turning cycles are not affected. The Safe StartPoint can now be set up using the options in the newBackground Processing tab:
Two safe points can be defined for each turretwhen there is a Sub Spindle. Only one is requiredwhen no Sub Spindle is present.
Only Main Spindle points need to be defined;Sub Spindle points will be created automatically.
Automatically Finding Features - Feature Finder recognises Uand V style grooves
Feature finder now recognises U and V style grooves and setsappropriate attributes. This is useful for machining of suchfeatures using strategies. The new Groove Type Attribute
defines: V style grooves need to have equal side wall
angles.
U and V Style Grooves need to start and end atsame level.
U and V style grooves can include a lead incorner radius or chamfer.
U style grooves need to have a full

180 degree base radius.
V style grooves can include a blend radius at itsbase.
V style grooves have Included Angle attribute.
U and V style grooves have Groove Widthattribute. This is the distance across the top ofthe groove.
Groove features are put on a separate layer.
Automatic Feature Finder - Internal Holes
Internal holes will not be found by Automatic
Feature Finder if they are impractical to
machine.
As a general rule, internal holes will not be found if the space(bore / cavity) before the start of the internal hole is either:
Less than 4 times the depth of the hole OR
Less than 4 times the diameter of the hole at theinternal face.
Feature Finder - Holes
It is now possible to find holes from a "dumb" model, add themto the model tree and edit them, if required, within PartModeler.
This new introduction will: Allow ALL "dumb" holes in the solid model to be
defined and edited within Part Modeler.
Allow users to add extra information to "dumb"holes, e.g. thread data.
Allow similar holes to be processed as a group.
Allow similar holes to be processed individually

Window Selection Introduced for Remove Face Procedures
It is now possible to use a window selection to select multiplefaces when using the Remove Face procedure within PartModeler.
This new function will:
Allow multiple faces of a feature to be selectedeasily to allow removal of the "dumb" feature.
Allow faces that are FULLY within a windowselection to be selected (Left to Right windowselection).
Allow faces that are PARTIALLY within thewindow selection to be selected (Right to Leftwindow selection).
Enhancements to Drawing Application
Various enhancements have been made to the DrawingApplication within Part Modeler. These include:
The introduction of "Force Aligned Parallel"dimension button, found on the "Modifier"Toolbar.
The introduction of the "Construction" linebutton, found on the "Locate" Toolbar. Thisbutton is also available in the Model application.

Feature Ordering Enhancements
Feature Finder internally groups features with similar attributesprior to performing a nearest next sort.
Nearest Next
Mill features on the same solid that share the same CPL levelare now ordered using a "nearest next" logic. This ensures thatthe features are in a reasonable machining order for use byStrategy Manager and Planning Board. This is primarily neededin the milling environment where you have a plate with manypockets.
Feature Find internally groups features with similar attributesbefore performing a "nearest next" sort and automaticallyordering the features:
Closed Pockets, Open Pockets and Open Millfeatures are considered together for thepurpose of internal grouping. The featureattributes that are considered for internalgrouping are MaxXyRadius (range +/- 50%),Depth (range +/- 50%), Lower Radius (exact) andMinimumXYRadius (exact). Each feature groupstarts at the bottom left.
In the example, all attributes are identical exceptfor the MaxXyRadius (The radius of the greatestcircle fitting inside the top contour).
Internal groups have been identified by colourand these groups would typically be roughed /rest roughed with different tooling sets. However, all of these features have the sameMinimumXYRadius and would, therefore, befinished with the same tool. The feature orderused for roughing is, therefore, not necessarilyuseful for finishing.
Features on Parallel CPLs (Z axis) are considered together
The predefined manufacture ordering now groups all mill /hole features on CPLs which share the same Z same directiontogether. This ensures that the order of features is highest levelfirst irrespective of CPL. Previously, mill and hole features weresorted by CPL and then CPL level.
Previously, if Feature Find was run more than once on differentCPLs, features could be identified on different CPLs whichshared the same Z direction. In this situation, ordering featuresby CPL could lead to features on a lower level being orderedbefore features on a higher level.

Planning Board Automatic Ordering
Feature Find automatically orders features into a logical orderfor manufacture. Machining Strategies can subsequently beassigned to each feature. Typically, a feature will be assigned aminimum of one roughing and one finishing strategy. The
Planning Board can now be automatically ordered based on thepriority setting assigned to each strategy. Strategy Manager(File Properties) is used to assign a priority to a strategy.
Automatic Ordering has been added to the Planning Board:
In Strategy Manager, File Properties specify apriority for each strategy. When the planningboard is populated, it is automatically orderedbased on this priority setting.
In the sample set of Edgecam strategies, priorities have been set so that all rough turningis done before finish turning and rough milling isdone before finish milling.
Automatic Ordering is enabled by selecting AutoSort Planning Board on the General tab of thePreferences dialog or can be done by pressingthe Sort by priority button.
Design - Stock creation and editing improvements
A number of improvements have been made to the DesignStock command:
Stock Profile can now be consistently createdfrom a closed shape without renderingproblems.
Arcs are no longer split into several segments oflines.
Profile Stocks now supporthollow/holes/through pockets.
Tube stocks for turning and milling.
Ability to edit stocks and re-pick geometry ordepth, retaining the original type.

Simulator Enhancements
Improved simplification of stock from Simulator
The previous simplifier could take minutes to simplifycomplicated stock, the new simplifier (using OpenMP-basedparallelism and a much improved algorithm) should take acouple of seconds (on a Core I7 quad core) to simplify verycomplicated stock (100MB+ STL) and fractions of seconds foranything more reasonably sized.
The simplifier is utilised by the Update Stock command; whenthe resultant stock exceeds the size stated on the dialog, thesimplification is performed. It is also used when saving STLstock directly from the simulator, when requested.
Simulator has been enhanced in version 2013 R1 and you cannow specify a Rewind Point at any point in the instruction list.
Simulator has been enhanced in version 2013 R1 to showdriven milling tool holders and tool graphics as spun; this is
optional with the default being spun. If your driven mill holdersinclude more than just the spinning holder, for example, theholder graphic includes the complete turret, this setting shouldbe unchecked.
Edgecam - Autodesk Vault Interface
The Vault Interface in Edgecam allows users to manage theirdata within Autodesk Vault 2013. Note that this functionality issupported for Autodesk Vault 2013 and above.
The Vault functionality implemented for Edgecam is available inall versions of Autodesk Vault 2013 (Vault Basic, VaultWorkgroup, Vault Collaboration and Vault Professional).
Autodesk Vault
Autodesk Vault is a data management tool integrated withAutodesk Inventor Series, Autodesk Inventor Professional,AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD Electrical, and Civil 3Dproducts. It helps design teams track work in progress andmaintain version control in multi-user environments. It allowsthem to organize and reuse designs by consolidating productinformation and reducing the need to re-create designs from
scratch. Users can store and search both CAD data (such asAutodesk Inventor, DWG, and DWF files) and non-CADdocuments (such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel files).

ToolStore Enhancements
Use of CSV, MEG and STL Graphics for Milling Tools andProbes
Some Tooling suppliers have made available tool and toolholder models as STEP files. These files can be loaded intoEdgecam and saved as MEG files to be used in the ToolStore:
A Paste button is now available in ToolGeometry for Milling and Probes enabling theuse of CSV, MEG and STL files as graphics.
No Shank geometry is available with tools usingMEG or STL graphics.
The Simulator will automatically generate a 2Drevolved profile for tools using MEG and STLgraphics.
Taper Ball Nose check box
Previously, a Taper Ball Nose was defined with a Taper, CornerRadius and by leaving the Small Diameter blank. However, thiswas not obvious and caused confusion.
A new Ball Nose check box has been added which, whenchecked, will grey out the Small Diameter and Flute Length asthey are automatically calculated.
Command Line Conversion of Solid to MEG
Some Tooling suppliers have made available tool and toolholder models as Solid CAD files. These files can be loaded intoEdgecam and saved as MEG files to be used in the ToolStore:
If you have many tool models to convert, thenthis command line program can be used toautomate the process.
The program can translate and rotate the part, ifrequired, to achieve the correct orientation forToolStore.
Note: The ability to convert the CAD file is dependent on havingan Edgecam license for that model type.
Code Wizard Enhancements
Support for drilling rotary holes from inside and outside
Edgecam 2013 R1 introduces support for the machining ofInternal Holes and Reverse Radial tools. A new Rotate forReverse Mount setting on the Machine Parameters Dialog -Turret tab allows tools to be mounted on the front or back of aturret.

release for those machines in Inch and Metric units.
Existing .CGD files for any Siemens controller should not beaffected and should update correctly.
The revised templates are:
adaptive-siemens.cgt and adaptive-siemens-inch.cgt which are generic "Siemens" templates.
adaptive-siemens wfl.cgx and adaptive-siemenswfl-inch.cgx which are generally formatted forWFL controllers. These templates equate to theprevious Siemens versions supplied withEdgecam 2012 R2.
Templates Output from Move to Toolchange / Home
The Code Generator and Templates have been enhanced toprovide more consistent and useful output from the Move toToolchange and Move to Home instructions.
The Move to Toolchange and Move to Home instructions willnow set, using the XMOVE, YMOVE, ZMOVE system variables, the true tooltip position in current CPL coordinates. This changeshould remove high coordinates resulting from movesimmediately after a Move to Toolchange or Move to Homeinstruction which would potentially cause an overtravel.
The templates have been enhanced, as follows:
The XMOVE, YMOVE, and ZMOVE tokens atMove to Toolchange and Move to Home nowalways contain the tooltip position on currentCPL. Not available on Milling templates.
The XTOOL, YTOOL, ZTOOL, XHOME, YHOME andZHOME tokens follow the Values of Tool ChangeHome NC-Style option (Tool Change Tab), where:
Gauge Adjusted Position willcompensate for TOOLXSET andTOOLZSET.
Machine Datum Coords are theturret centre position.
Current CPL Coords will give thesame result as XMOVE, YMOVEand ZMOVE.
Note:
No changes are expected on post processorswith U0V0W0 output style.
Please check your post processor carefully onthis area after the update.

Other Changes
Thread Database
The Thread Database (threaddata.mdb) location is now definedby the ToolStore Support files folder and can, therefore, beshared by all users on a network. Users that use a networklocation for the Toolstore will now use the Thread Databasefrom that area automatically. Previously, Edgecam always usedthe ..\Program Files\..\cam\TStore folder.
Use Max RPM from the Code Generator
A modifier has been added to the Spindle Tab on ToolChangecommand. When Use Max RPM from the Code Generator ischecked, the new Max RPM will be read automatically if theCode Generator is edited or changed.
Update Stock also functions as a Synchronisation command
In turning, when there is more than one turret, the Update
Stock command also functions as a Synchronisation commandbecause it is inserted in the instruction browser for each turret. It will also generate a Sync Point in the NC code.
Feature Find - groove features
A unique layer and colour has been added for groove features.
Zoom In/Out
The default behaviour is to zoom about the mouse position.Previously, Edgecam zoomed about the centre of the screen.
Preferences dialog - New Solid Assembly Preferences forSolids
A new option called Granite Assembly Level Features has beenadded to the Solids Tab.
Direction / Start Arrow for Turn Cycles
In Turn Cycles, the Direction / Start Arrow displayed whenpicking geometry was the same as milling which showed theside to machine. This gave an incorrect impression for the turncycles as the tool controls side. The image is now is a simplearrow to avoid confusion.
Thread Mill - New "Plunge in Centre" modifier
A new Plunge in Centre check box has been added to the LeadTab:
When checked, the tool will plunge down thecentre of the hole.
When unchecked, the tool will plunge at thestart of the lead in.
The cycle used to always plunge centre, but on large threadsthere may be an obstruction in the centre, such as a fixture boltand the time to feed from centre to edge could be wasted time. The New option is on by default to maintain the old behaviour.
