There are two types of interactive whiteboards: The first type is a “virtual” electronic version of
dry wipe board. This allows students in the classroom to view what the instructor writes or draws.
The second type is a large physical display panel that can function as an ordinary whiteboard, projector screen. Images can be controlled by touching or writing on the surface of the panel.
They are used in lecture or classrooms. It allows instructors to write or draw on the
surface, print off the image, and save it to a computer or send it out over a network.
Helps broaden the use of e-learning Make it easier for teachers to enhance
presentations Allows teachers to create easily and rapidly
customized learning objects Allows learners to absorb information easily
They are expensive The surface can become damaged If multiple data is entered, inputs can get
jumbled, causing the screen to show gibberish
It comprises of 4 components A computer A projector Appropriate software Display panel
Resistive Membrane It has a soft, flexible surface Fingers can be used to make drawings
Hectro Magnetic Similar to traditional whiteboards Has a hard surface Can be drawn using normal pens
Laser Scanners Has a hard writing surface Has a infrared laser scanner to detect pen
movement
