The Open University of Sri Lanka Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering ECX6242 – Modern Control Systems  Assignment  4 – 2013/2014 Introduction: In this assignment you are going to design a laboratory experiment that can be used to teach control system design to MEX4243: Control System Engineering students. Based on your design procedure prepare a report and a presentation.  Aim: To  design a laboratory experiment to introduce control system design to undergraduate students. Task: 1.  Select a system that can be controlled by a PID controller. ( Hint: You can search web for such systems and assume a realistic system) 2.  Design the experimental setup that can be used in the control engineering laboratory. 3.  Clearly identify the input and output variables. 4.  Prepare an instruction manual to be used in the laboratory. Reward: Student who proposes the best setup will get Extra 15% marks for his/her least scored assignment. NOTE: 1.  Presentations will be held on 07 th  June 2014 from 0930 at Kandy Regional Center. 2.  You can take up to 15 minutes for your presentation.

 Assignment  4 – 2013/2014Introduction:

In this assignment you are going to design a laboratory experiment that can be used to teach

control system design to MEX4243: Control System Engineering students. Based on your design

procedure prepare a report and a presentation.

Aim: To design a laboratory experiment to introduce control system design to undergraduate

students.

Task:

1.  Select a system that can be controlled by a PID controller. ( Hint: You can search web for

such systems and assume a realistic system)

2.  Design the experimental setup that can be used in the control engineering laboratory.

3.  Clearly identify the input and output variables.

4.  Prepare an instruction manual to be used in the laboratory.

Reward:

Student who proposes the best setup will get Extra 15% marks for his/her least scored

assignment.

NOTE:

1.  Presentations will be held on 07th June 2014 from 0930 at Kandy Regional Center.

2.  You can take up to 15 minutes for your presentation.
