Primary EcoGamma & EcoSpec Applications
Site, facility, regional & country wide environmental gamma monitoring Historically GM based (post Chernobyl)
Many systems upgraded or due for upgrade- But not all
Some duplication re local/national governments Many requirements for isotopics as well as dose rate info
In Europe all national EMS stations are linked to EURDEP http://eurdep.jrc.ec.europa.eu/Basic/Pages/Public/EURDEP%20News/Default.aspx

EcoSpec – Spectroscopic Environmental Gamma Monitor
EcoSpec – Spectroscopic Environmental Gamma Monitor
An environmental gamma probe giving both dose rate measurement and Nuclide Identification (NID) H*10 environmental dose rate based on 2” x 2” NaI spectrum 0.01 µSv/hr – 50 µSv/h/hr (NaI) then GM up to 1 Sv/hr Class leading NID algorithms
Short term and long term spectroscopy & transient detection Individual dose rate/activity alarms per isotope Built in Ethernet (POE), WiFi, GPS, USB & Serial IP67 sealed
EcoSpecApplication: in-plant, perimeter & wide area monitoring (EMS) – when spectroscopy is needed to differentiate between nuclides Many systems now require NID explicitly or implicitly Eg ‘Radon washout’ diagnosis/rejection on rainfall (600 keV line)
Key Advantages: LED Stabilization
Most competitors use source or NORM eg KCl Speed of response (embedded state-of-art NID)
Canberra’s core strength Low power (solar power for fixed, lightweight & long battery for portable) Easy to use (new software platform) HORIZON Support (V3)
PIA Gamma Spectroscopy Features– Troy Anderson/ - 28 August 2015 - p.14
Spectroscopy EnginesOver 30+ years of analysis algorithms are supported in EcoSpec. The Genie-2000 analysis engine framework is supported. Some of the engines included: Peak Analysis Background Correction Efficiency Correction NID and MDA Model Match Post NID Alarm Dose By NID and Report Templates …
Consistent results with Genie-2000 Verifiable for SQA
PIA Gamma Spectroscopy Features– Troy Anderson/ - 28 August 2015 - p.15
Spectroscopy CalibrationsThe Genie calibration engines are supported. Energy and Shape Efficiency with Peak to Total
Even ISOCS calibrations are supported! Import the ISOCS output into the framework Future releases to support standard models for air contamination, ground
contamination etcCompatiblity with Genie makes verification for SQA convenient.

Both controls support On Demand Analysis (ODA) Highlight a region of pointsJust like highlighting in Word or Excel
The statistics for those points are computed. The summed spectrum is computed. Analyze the summed spectrum. Terrific for analyzing transient features!

Embedded OPC-UA
PIA Remote Client Overview– Troy Anderson/ - 28 August 2015 - p.26
An OPC-UA server is embedded within the device Developed and tested with Canberra’s Horizon SCADA software. New spectroscopy data model and HMI components have been created
for current and future products.

SCADA Client The data model
Gamma SpectroscopyOPC-UA and SCADA
Gamma Spectroscopy is new to OPC-UA and SCADA There are no existing data models for spectroscopy. There are no SCADA HMI controls for spectroscopy. So no way to connect EcoSpec to standard SCADA
The EcoSpec development addresses both of those deficiencies New data models were created for Horizon to support spectroscopy These will also be sueful for other spectroscopic instruments
Eg viewing iCAM spectra
EcoSpec SDKThis SDK consists of Five different language implementations
C++-for legacy applications or real-time data collection Java-for modern managed application development Python-for rapid prototyping, testing, and manufacturing JavaScript-for interpreted web, mobile, and server applications All of them are platform neutral.
C++ comes with build scripts for Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows Java is capable of running in any Java 8 platform Python and JavaScript run on any platform those frameworks support tested within mobile (iOS, Android, and Surface), embedded, desktop, web, and
browser applications.
Examples for each implementation All implementations support secure communications Support 100% of the device features
Look at the possible solutionsCombining this SDK with the U-SDK we can easily develop: OPC-UA servers such as our platform neutral server Mobile applications such as iOS, Android, and Windows Surface Embedded applications such as Ultra-Portable local display Web applications such as our remote client Desktop applications
