Tip 2 – Process
SSL ( Secured Socket Layer)• Must move to new server
• If shared make sure new provider accepts it • Not all certificates are compatible with all web
server software• Make sure current certificate will work
• Don’t Leave till the last minute

Moving Data • Site Migration can be midly challenging to ardous
• Check how easy it is to import data • New Platform should explain its Database
Structure and what imports it accepts • Moving Product data should be straight forward
• Order data can be more complex
Tip 4 – Data
Avoid SEO Glitches• If you are getting major revenue from organic
traffic this should be a HUGE Priority • Make sure you have the ability to name your own
link structure to match previous links• If link renaming is not possible 301 Permanent is
your only option. • Check and Make sure either of these options are
available
Tip 5 – SEO
Keep Email Flowing• Email is critical during move
• Have a way to check email in old server • Temporary forward 48 hours to new server
• Review accounts and aliases• Test every new email and form before going live
Tip 6 – Email
Determine Live Data• At least 48 hours before move schedule DNS
update within 300 seconds.
Tip 7 – “Live” Date
Test First• Run some Test Orders before making site live
Tip 8 – Test First
Schedule Transfer• Recommend doing very early 1 AM
• If you schedule TTL then it should be instant• ALERTS CUSTMOMERS THE WEEK BEFORE

Keep old site for at least a month• Give your Self Time to Archive old files, Scripts, and
other vital information
