ISWA (International Solid Waste Association) Links have been further cemented with ISWA, the association representing more than 1100 members in 70 or more countries around the world. It will attend Ecomondo 2012 with local authority officials and re-presentatives from European industry to encourage the sharing of technologies, and signing of commercial agreements and joint ventures. European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB), Environmental Biotechnology section: relations have also been cemented with this key section of the EFB,

which counts more than 10,000 members from 70 countries. In its ranks, it boasts important figures from the academic and industrial worlds working on the biomonitoring and sustainable reclamation of contami-nated environmental sites, sediments and matrices, as well as on the integrated industrial transformation of organic sub-products and waste. FEAD: the cooperative agreement will be further strengthened with this important European network.BIR: opportunities to work in synergy with the associa-ted businesses and their touring events will be created.

EComondo

>> goes increasingly global

>> beyond Italianborders

More than 250 top buyers from Germany, Spain, Russia, Baltic Republics, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, and Brazil will meet 2012 exhibitors on Ecomondo's web forum, to set up worthwhile business appointments.

In 2011, more than 1890 business meetings were held.

ECOMONDO International is going from strength to strength in the key markets of interest to Italian businesses (especially Turkey, UK and Russia), attracting them through key incentives at leading events in the sector. Ecomondo attended more than 15 specialist trade shows in Germany, Spain, France, Poland, UK and Brazil.

Oro Blu, the part of Ecomondo that focuses on water treatment and reuse, will look in detail at the integrated water process, which includes the distribution of water for human consumption, the collection and tran-sportation of waste water, and the purification and potential recovery for domestic, irrigation or industrial use, emphasizing the direct relationship between users - water companies. In 2012, more space will be given to waste water treatment systems, and to the recovery and reuse of water (also meteorological), with emphasis in particular on the associated problems and solutions proposed for water distribution and collection (pipes, valves and pumps).Leading manufacturers of technologies for analysis, measurement and control, and the integrated monitoring of contaminated sites and matri-ces, of domestic and industrial water, of the air, and of effluent gases and waste, will be present. New innovations for the treatment of sludge will be presented, with particular emphasis on the eco-efficiency of the systems and strategies for the reuse of the purified water.

AIR, the specialist exhibition on air, addresses key issues such as urban and industrial sources of pollution, the regulatory framework (Directive 2010/75/EC, Directive 2008/50/EC, and implementation decrees), pre-vention and environmental monitoring, technologies for the treatment and purification of effluents, with the aim of providing a snapshot of the state of the art. Time will also be spent looking at the quality of indoor air, an issue which is currently attracting the attention of industry and public opi-nion. The health and sanitation aspects (WHO guidelines) will be in the spotlight along with planning and design considerations (choice of mate-rials, labelling and ventilation).

The Full Waste Cycle is the Core Business of our event. Close up: integrated waste collection equipment and systems for efficient waste management, more eco-friendly, low-emission vehicles, the best technologies and solutions to maximise recycling opportunities. Special focus on the disposal, recovery and preparation for resale of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap, spotlight on the end-of-life tyre cycle, the treatment of special and hazardous waste, the disposal of end-of-life vehicles and reuse of all components.Working with MISE and national technological platforms for sustainable chemistry and bio fuels, talks will be held on industrial research priorities and industrial and commercial opportunities for biorefineries (integrated biotechnological and chemical processes), as applied to the sub-products and waste from the agrifood and agricultural industries, and civil and industrial organic waste. Manufacturers of waste-to-energy and waste transformation systems, and associated component suppliers, will be invited to attend. In the recycling field, much attention will be focused on lesser known chemical and physical elements, such as rare earth elements that are being increasingly used in computers, electrical motors, and wind tower blades, and are currently driving the modern economy.

The fifth edition of the Reclaim Expo, the "International exhibition of the most advanced reclamation technologies for contaminated sites", will take stock of the current application of biomonitoring and sustai-nable reclamation techniques, in Italy and across Europe, as well as looking at the associated technological innovations being perfected, all thanks to a number of industrial research projects recently financed by the European Commission, and the action of the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB). The aim of this edition is to create a forum whe-re researchers, technicians and planners working on the reclamation, reconversion and redevelopment of former industrial sites and decom-missioned areas in Italy, can come together and share their experiences. In partnership with key players in the field, Federchimica, Unione Petro-lifera, Ministero dell’Ambiente, Ispra, Syndial, ISS, SusChem Italy, and the Environmental Biotechnology section of the European Federation of Biotechnology and many others.

Businesses working in the decommissioning field, i.e. on the reuse of brownfield sites, decommissioned industrial areas, and areas in disre-pair and abandonment, the reclamation and reuse of which are now a priority objective in Italy as well, will be brought together in an exhibition area between Reclaim Expo and Inertech.

The "Exhibition on recycling in the construction world" is a vertical project that takes a dedicated look at recycling C&D waste and road materials, and how they can be reused. This year, Inertech aims to strengthen its position in the Italian market as a specialist event and premier show-case for international exhibitors, drawing on new agreements signed with trade associations CantierMacchine - Unacea - Finco, and with leading manufacturers of earthmoving and crushing machinery, demo-lition equipment, inert material recycling plants, component suppliers, and bituminous concrete recycling plants and equipment, which have all recognized the quality and value of the event.

Laboratories, exhibitions, workshops, competitions on environmental themes and energy for citizens.

2012 will see a portion of a full-blown IDEAL city built over more than 5,000 m2 of covered exhibition space. This futuristic, eco-su-stainable installation will add further value to the more innovative products, technologies, equipment, and systems on display in the various areas and districts, representing a sustainable city with a holistic approach. Exhibition themes: interconnectivity, building, mobility, waste ma-nagement, water-saving, efficiency, air quality, intercultural exchan-ge, communal green spaces and landscapes, sustainable illumina-tion. A workshop zone located in the heart of the exhibition area will give more than 800 big and small Italian towns and villages, organisations, authorities, associations and citizens the chance to come together to discuss the current best practices, models and financial tools, in order to find dedicated solutions for their urban requalification needs, in accordance with SMART criteria. The wor-kshop zone will act as a catalyst for debate and topics of interest regarding the City.

Research_Tools_Industrial ManagementThe production sector, and the economy as a whole, can only grow if the approach taken is one of savings and efficiency in the use of raw materials and energy-production, while maintaining production systems and pro-ducts of the highest quality standards. Recent reports have shown that thousands of businesses are investing in green products and technologies, and in human capital specializing in the green professions. New tools are nee-ded to come to grips with these new frontiers, such as industrial symbiosis, featuring eco-parks where the waste generated in one process becomes the raw material and source energy of another, or the application of life cycle analysis to products, processes and systems, integrated environmental monitoring systems, risk analysis, flow assessment, and ecodesign. Short and practical conventions will be held on the most critical, current issues, as well as technical workshops sponsored by businesses, and conventions of European associations.

Cooperambiente 2012 will present the very best of Italian cooperation: waste disposal and separate waste collection services and management, production of renewable energy, sustainable transport services, the management of gardens and woodland, and the energy saving policies of large distribution chains, also aimed at the millions of cooperative members. Cooperambiente will also be an opportunity to take a more in-depth look and discuss in detail the Legacoop policies for the sustainable development of the Italian economy through efficient use of energy.
