3.5 Setting targets for improvement for phase 2 & 3

Phase 2 TargetsNow you can choose your target section(s) for your Phase 2 in order to continue to improve your Total Eco Score (reduce the total) for the next phase.

Like Phase 1, the time and number of target sections you select for Phase 2 is flexible. You should have a better idea now of how many sections are manageable and achievable for this next phase. (Remember, you are aiming to have improved all 7 sections before the duration of one year. )

A guide for Phase 2 could be to select 3 different sections for improvement that have the next highest scores; aiming to complete possible improvements within those sections over the duration of the next 3 months (second term).

Targets for Phase 2

Date Set Target Sections Target End Date

Like Phase 1, you now need to: select the sections you have identified as targets for stage 2; work through each sub-category on the ‘Improving your eco-practise table’ (unit 3.3 pages 3 - 12) in your stage 2 target sections; notice whether you are aiming to move from bad to good practise or good to best practise for that particular sub-category from your evaluation in Unit 2; and tick off and date the 3 steps to success as you manage to complete them or gain confidence and knowledge.

You should aim to have completed as many improvements as you can within your phase 2 target sections within your target time, or date to be reviewed. If any of the steps to success are not relevant to your practise, either miss them out and use your original scores, or you could involve your group with suggesting alternative methods for improvements.

At the end of Phase 2, continue to review your practise by totalling your scores for your Phase 2 Target Section(s) and calculating your new Eco Score. Fill in the relevant sections in the tables in unit 3.4 on pages 2 & 3.

Phase 3 TargetsNow you can choose your target section(s) for the last phase, Phase 3, for a last push at improving your Total Eco Score (reducing the total).

Unlike phase 1 & 2, the time and number of target sections you select for Phase 3 is not so flexible. in that you will need to choose the remaining sections not yet covered, and within the maximum workshop duration of within a year of the course sign-up date.

A guide for Phase 3 could be to select all remaining sections for improvement that have not yet been targeted; aiming to complete possible improvements within those sections over the duration of the next 3 months (third term). This would mean Phase 3 would be finished within 9 months of the course sign-up date, giving you further time to collate your paperwork ready to submit to us for your ‘course completion certificate’ well within the year.

Targets for Phase 3

Date Set Target Sections Target End Date

Like Phase 1 & 2, you now need to: select the sections you have identified as targets for stage 3; work through each sub-category in your stage 3 target sections; notice whether you are aiming to move from bad to good practise or good to best practise for that particular sub-category from your evaluation in Unit 2; and tick off and date the 3 steps to success as you manage to complete them or gain confidence and knowledge.

You should aim to have completed as many improvements as you can within your phase 3 target sections within your target end date. If any of the steps to success are not relevant to your practise, either miss them out and keep your original scores, or you could involve your group with suggesting alternative methods for improvements.

At the end of Phase 3, continue to review your practise by totalling your scores for your Phase 3 Target Section(s) and calculating your final Eco Score. Fill in the relevant sections in the tables in this unit on pages 26 & 27.
